One of the things I always find intriguing is the number of places I haven’t visited in LA, despite being a native. It would probably be impossible to visit every boutique, cafe, or park in this expansive city. But the fact that we’ve never, ever been to the Natural History Museum of LA was quite shocking. Much like the New York museum, it houses nearly 35 million specimens and artifacts that span 4.5 billion years of history. It’s the largest museum in the western US, and last year, the Dinosaur Hall opened which provided a perfect backdrop for a weekend of dinosaur fun with Buddy, the friendly T. Rex from PBS Kids’ Dinosaur Train.
This week kicks off Big Big Dinosaur Week on PBS Kids.Through August 19th, families can explore a variety of dinosaur species from different periods of time as Dinosaur Train premieres four new episodes. Buddy, Shiny, Tiny, and Don will discover the largest dinosaur species while exploring their natural surroundings. The show is geared towards children ages 2-5 and throughout the week, they’ll learn about nocturnal and diurnal animals, sunrises and sunsets, natural art, and geysers.
