I remember the days when my son would eat anything I put in front of him. Oh wait…that’s somebody else’s child! My son, who is almost 2, is PICKY! I have to bribe him to eat his veggies (not really…well…ok…maybe a little!). Why is it that the best foods are the hardest to get children to eat?
If you’re having difficulty getting your child to eat their veggies, you may be interested in checking out Hidden Valley’s new online game called Veggie Adventures. You may recall that I shared information with you about the campaign last year. Now children can play three different “veggie” games on the site. I recently learned from Mom Central that 60 percent of parents play computer games with their children. Computer games while entertaining, often teach children important lessons. This is a wonderful way to open up discussion about vegetables, including how they are grown and end up on the table. The 60 second games are easy for children to play and I like how the child receives a printable certificate at the end. Veggie Adventures also throws in some tips and facts that parents can talk about during and after they play the games. Here is a little more information about the games from the site:
At the Farm: Water your veggies and keep critters away. Protect as many veggies as you can with your water hose so the critters don’t eat them!
On the Road: Use the tractor to get the veggies to the kids. Drive safely, look out for critters and potholes, and try to keep all your veggies in the cart!
In the Kitchen: Feed all the hungry tummies in the kitchen with your healthy snacks!
Check out the Veggie Adventures and the Love Your Veggies campaign for more information and tips on getting your children to eat their veggies!
Thanks Mom Central for sharing another fabulously useful resource for moms!
