Adjusting to the new school year has been a challenge for the four of us. What used to be a very relaxed schedule has become more structured without a lot of flexibility, requiring me to be very organized and diligent with my time. To ease the stress, I’ve had to simplify our life. Everything from our day-to-day activities with the kids to keeping the house in check has required a bit of adjusting.
While I absolutely love being a homeowner, it comes with built-in stresses. I am primarily in charge of ensuring that it’s tidy which includes everything from floors and tubs to dishes and laundry. I find that when the house is not clean, it adds to the chaos and stress in our home. So rather than wait until the weekend to cram all of the work in, I strive to do a little bit each day so that weekends can include some quality bonding time.
Laundry is one of those chores that can easily become overwhelming. With two small children in the home and a husband who travels quite a bit, we generate a lot of laundry. It’s been one year since I participated in the Whirlpool Moms program, and I’m happy to say that our Duet Washer and Dryer still manage to save me from complete laundry breakdown each and every week.
Apart from setting aside a small amount of time each day to run a load of laundry, load the dishwasher and pick up the floor, I rely on the convenience of appliances like my washer and dryer. Their built-in features help save me time and simplify the tasks that take me away from doing the things I really want to do (like spending time with my family). I would have to say that the ability to simply throw a load of laundry in, select my setting, and hit the start button without having to worry about anything beyond that is the biggest time saver. One of my favorite features of the Duet washer has always been the Precision Dispense Ultra dispenser, and I find that if I purchase a highly concentrated laundry detergent (like Mrs. Meyers Clean Day 4x Concentrated Laundry Detergent), I can go days without filling up the dispenser. And, if I don’t have time to pull the laundry out the second it is ready, II simply choose the FanFresh setting so that my laundry still smells fresh when I’m ready to dry it. The 12-Hour FanFresh option activates when the wash cycle is over, tumbling clothes for up to 12 hours to keep them fresh. If you have a small load, you can literally wash and dry it in the washer using this cycle (brilliant!). And speaking of drying, the Duet dryer includes Advanced Moisture Sensing so that clothes are dried perfectly, without over drying.
Part of simplifying our life means using less and exerting less of an impact on the environment. The Duet Washer and Dryer are a great investment because they are designed to use less water and less energy, resulting in significant savings over the lifetime of each appliance. In addition to simply using these machines, we can do things like using a botanically-based detergent, cold washing clothing when possible, and only using the dryer when line-drying is not an option. I feel good about using these machines to help simplify our home life because I know that they are Energy Star-rated to efficiently wash and dry my laundry with a minimal impact on the environment.
Whirlpool just launched a mom section on their Facebook page. You can check out real stories from real moms about how they simplify their life.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
