My husband is convinced that he’s yet to meet someone as picky as I am when it comes to food. Not only am I a bit of a health nut, I’m also a bit of a foodie. The combination can be inconvenient when attempting to plan meals, since my husband does a majority of the cooking in our household. We bake and grill everything, since we don’t consume fried foods. Baking is the easiest mechanism but it can get rather boring.
George Foreman recently introduced the new Evolve Grill, which actually does much more than just grill. You could literally have this one appliance to cook everything from grilled halibut to blueberry muffins. I went into our cupboards to see how many appliances and cookware/bakeware we have…
Waffle Iron…Check!
Panini Griddle…Check!
Muffin Pan….Check!
The list goes on and on. The Evolve Grill is all of the above and more which means, in theory, you could get rid of those appliances OR opt for this grill in place of purchasing those items. So what can you make with the Evolve Grill?
Waffles
Muffins
Omelettes/Frittatas
Paninis
Lasagna
Grilled fish, meats, and vegetables
Turkey Veggie Burgers
Here are the plates that are available (or soon to be available) for use with the Evolve Grill:
- Cross-hatch grill plates
- Mini-Burger plate
- Griddle plate
- Cupcake/muffin plate
- Panini plates
- Deep-dish baking plate
- Omelet plates
- Waffle plate
The Evolve Grill is easy to use. You simply set the temperature and the timer and wait for your meal to cook. The manual actually provides a wealth of information on grilling times for a variety of foods. While I’m not a manual reader, this is one I do recommend skimming through before using the grill.
One of the benefits of cooking this way is that you’ll use less butter and oil because the grill uses George Tough nonstick coating. It also includes a slope that allows fat and oil to drip away from the food that is cooking.
Clean-up is less messy than you’d think. Not only are the plates nonstick, they’re dishwasher safe. Just be sure not to use a harsh sponge or scrub on it.
The Evolve Grill retails for $129.99 and is available at retailers nationwide.
I’ll leave you with an awesome recipe from their website:
Potato & Leek Frittata:
Uses the deep-dish bake plate.
6 oz. red skin potatoes, thinly sliced
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 leek (white and light green part) thinly sliced
4 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tbsp. half & half
½ tsp. herbs de Provence
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. garlic pepper
½ cup shredded Gruyère cheese
Chopped parsley
Attach the top grill plate to the grill.
Place the deep-dish bake plate on the bottom of the grill. Set baking time to 10 minutes and temperature to 400º F.
Add potatoes, oil and leeks. Close the cover and cook, turning the potatoes occasionally.
In a bowl, combine the eggs, half & half, herbs de Provence, salt and garlic pepper; whisk until well blended. Stir in the cheese.
Add egg mixture to deep-dish bake plate. Set baking time for 15 minutes and temperature to 350º F. Bake until eggs are fully baked and puffed.
Using pot holders, remove the deep-dish bake plate from the grill and place on heat-resistant surface. Garnish with parsley. Use a nylon spatula to serve.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
