I never imagined that at the age of 2, my daughter would be able to navigate an iPad so well that she could find the Watch Disney Junior app to enjoy her favorite shows. There is no question that our children our growing up in a highly technical era, and as a parent, I have to be very vigilant about the content my children are exposed to. Rather than shield my children from technology, I opt to educate them and get involved with what they’re watching and playing, particularly online.
I recently learned about a fantastic free resource offered at select Microsoft stores across the country. Offered weekly, these TechTots classes are designed to bring parents and their children together to explore technology. Each hour long class focuses on a kid-focused theme, and throughout the class, parents will learn tech tips and discover the latest in technology. For example, in the Safari class, children will discover different animals and their habitats in a virtual safari across continents and in the Mystery class, children will solve puzzles, follow clues and use technology to find out what the mystery item is.
Each class is free and parents must attend with their child.
