His abilities, unwavering courage, and “never say die” attitude has made Captain America a living legend.
A visit to the Disneyland Resort transports families to a place where the imaginative worlds and characters they love become a reality. Perhaps that is why so much of our time at the resort has been dedicated to meeting and talking to Merida, Buzz Lightyear, Mickey, and Minnie. The way my childrens’ faces light up when they meet their own “heroes” is invaluable, and I hold those moments deep in my heart because I know how short-lived these years are. My son has been a lover of all-things superhero since he could talk, so I can imagine how awestruck he’ll be when he meets Captain America this Spring at Disneyland’s brand new, interactive Marvel Experience Captain America: The Living Legend and Symbol of Courage.
Slated to open Friday, March 7th, 2014, this immersive experience will give guests a new and exciting way to connect with their favorite superhero. Perfectly timed to open a month before the 9th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, guests will get a first look at Captain America’s history, props and costumes from the films, and a meet and greet with the superhero himself.
The experience opens at Innoventions, which occupies the round, two-story Carousel Theater located in Tomorrowland. Last year, the Marvel introduced two brand new exhibits inspired by the release of Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. The addition of Captain America unites the three exhibits and provides a way for Marvel fans to experience these stories in a new and exciting way.
Guests entering the exhibit (which is located on the second floor), will walk through a corridor which includes a timeline of Captain America’s journey up to (but not including) the latest chapter, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Right before meeting the First Avenger, you’ll see his World War II uniform and his first shield.
Meeting Captain America is definitely the highlight of this experience. He was friendly and believable and I think kids will absolutely love meeting the iconic superhero. Be sure to bring your cameras and autograph books before you enter the experience.
Once you’ve spent some time with Captain America, be sure to take a look at his prototype shields and the final shield seen in the latest film.
As part of the opening of this exhibit, Marvel has also introduced a brand new augmented reality app which will put you in the midst of the action! Captain America Experience can be downloaded to your iOS device and used to make the new film poster come to life. With the new app, you’ll be able to see Captain America come to life in 3D. Take a photo with him and your friends, then share it on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram using the hashtag #CaptainAmerica. Plus, just by downloading the app, you’ll be in the know about the latest news and surprise from the brand new film, opening in theaters on April 4th, 2014.
