A few months ago, I won a Learning Tower on Stephanie’s blog during their Love of Learning Month promotion. My son has really enjoyed playing in it (or shall I say climbing in and out of it over and over). I stay home with my son most days of the week and the reality is, household chores have to get done. I know it’s crazy isn’t it? Things like dishes and cooking don’t just happen. With 3 meals to prepare and clean up in between, much of my household chores are kitchen-based. The Learning Tower is wonderful for teaching my son all about the chores mommy has to do. I feel much better having him next to me, even if I’m just doing something as boring as washing dishes. I’ve been having him “help” me load and unload the dishwasher (which basically consists of him giving me dishes!) and he loves this because he feels like he’s doing something important (which he is!).
Now it appears that a toddler wouldn’t be able to climb in and out. Actually, the tower is built to encourage independence and toddlers can easily get in and out. My son figured it out immediately! In case you’re wondering, here are some of my favorite features of the tower:
The Learning Tower is “a sturdy, non-tip structure that welcomes the child to safely participate with parents, caregivers, and siblings by raising them to countertop height.” It took some time for my son to get accustomed to staying in it and he still enjoys climbing in and out more than staying put. The company has brilliantly created a few accessories to make the tower that much more enjoyable for children. We had an opportunity to check out The Art Easel which my son LOVES! We’ve actually moved the Learning Tower into the living room because he now enjoys coloring on the chalkboard more than staying in it while mommy cooks and cleans up. The accessory set attaches to the Learning Tower and features a dry-erase board on one side and a chalkboard on the other. Plus, there is a handy tray for storing chalk, markers, or dare I say…paint. We received some eco-paint to try out so I’m thinking of getting some clips and having my son fingerpaint on The Art Easel! My son absolutely loves to draw and is always asking us to draw him pictures of fish and dogs. My son can spend quite a bit of time just with the easel (just enough time for me to get those dishes done!). What’s great about The Art Easel is that you can also attach it to a wall (rather than the Learning Tower).
The Art Easel retails for $59.99 and can be purchased directly from the site. I guess all we need to complete it is the Playhouse Kit! *smiles* The Learning Tower retails for $189.99. Right now, if you join their Facebook page, you could enter to win one during their Father’s Day promotion! And…if you’re interested, the company also sells refurbished towers which are structurally sound but may have a few blemishes on the surface. For pricing and availability, call 1 800 704 9058.

Hi, my name is Kelsey Richardson, I am part of an amazing organization called “Break The Chain Against Domestic Violence.” We are a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide safe refuge and resources to women and their children who are victims of family violence. Once a year we do a fundraiser to help raise money to house these women and children and get them the help they need to get back on their feet. I know you may wonder what this has to do with you….. well, I was wondering if you would like to be a big help to us this year!! I was looking through all of the wonderful items you have for sale and didn’t know it you might be interested in donating some things that we would be able to raffle off! I know people absolutely love to buy cute things and I know it would be a GREAT help for us. We will make sure everything we raffle has your name and website or myspace address on it! This may in turn help you get business too…. and if you have business cards, feel free to send as many as you would like to be placed on the raffle table! We would also make sure you get a tax donation receipt form!! If you have any questions at all, feel free to message me and I will answer everything I can. Thank you so much for taking the time to hear what I have to say!!!
God Bless,
Kelsey Richardson

Just to let you know a little more about the raffle! We are planning on starting in mid July and it will be a local raffle as well as an online raffle. We have volunteers that are going to take pictures of each item to their jobs, schools and church groups to show off the items and get people to buy tickets. We will also be holding an “open house” at the beginning of the raffle event so local people can come see all the items in person and get business cards from our amazing sponsors! For the online part, I have set up an album on the Break The Chain myspace page where people will be able to see each item (as well as the boutique who donated them) and tell me what product they want to buy a raffle ticket for. They can then pay through paypal. This raffle will be open for one week! At the end of that time, we will draw a raffle ticket for every item and announce the winners. People who are out of town will have their items mailed to them and local ones will be handed out! All proceeds from this Raffle Event will go directly to Break The Chain!
Thanks again for your support!
