For months years I had been asking begging the hubby for an iPhone. Every time I was in a circle of influential women, I’d be the odd one out, tweeting and updating from my Palm Pre Plus. As a side note, I actually really liked that phone. But it wasn’t an iPhone. I saw many of my friends go through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generations of the phone. I remember sitting with Stephanie on a plane back to LA from Chicago as she took me through some of the phone’s features and apps. I was determined to be an iPhone owner! But little did I know that it would be almost 2 years before that became a reality.
One early spring night, right before my trip to Orlando for Disney Social Media Moms, my Palm Pre Plus saw the floor for the very last time. I am notoriously hard on my phones…regardless of how much they cost or if they were made by a company called Apple. Rather than spend the money to replace the touch screen on my Palm Pre Plus, the hubby broke down and bought me an iPhone. I know it’s impossible to love an object…but it’s been the most handy piece of technology and I can’t believe that I went all these years without it. Now…to protect it!
The original case that I purchased with the phone was basic and purely functional. I was never sure how much it could withstand and thus was careful about supervising my son when I finally allowed him to use it. After dropping it a few times (yes), I realized that the case was going to need replacing.
Thanks to Uncommon, I was offered the opportunity to design my very own iPhone case. Since I was heading out to San Diego for BlogHer, I thought designing the case with my logo on it my be a great conversation starter.
The hubby helped me design it and I love the way it turned out. Creating the case was actually easy and took less than 30 minutes. Simply upload the image you’d like your case to feature, re-size, preview, and confirm.
Uncommon is an online company that offers customization for Apple accessories. I chose the Capsule case for my iPhone4 because it offers “ultimate protection” and that is exactly what this mama needs with two small children! Not only is it durable (I’ve dropped it at least once with this case on), it’s stylish and doubles as a nice conversation starter. The image itself wraps around the case giving it more of a cohesive look and in the 3 (ish) weeks I’ve had it, the cover hasn’t peeled or chipped.
The cases retail for $19.95 to $39.95 and I think that is reasonable, given the fact that the cases are customized.
