Caprese Pizza Recipe

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Ragú® and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions are my own.

Pizza is my weeknight go-to meal when time is short or I’m seeking reprieve from the daily rush to get dinner on the table. Often deemed “Pizza Night,” Fridays are those days when I’ve usually hit a creative wall and I’m looking for something quick and easy that my kids will enjoy. Despite our differences in preferred toppings, I know that keeping it simple (and making accommodations for my son’s food allergies) means our mealtime will be #Saucesome.

I love to cook and bake from scratch, and it isn’t uncommon for me to go as far as making pizza dough, but when I happened upon the Ragú® Chunky Gardenstyle Pizza Recipe, I knew that it would make a great addition to my repertoire of quick and easy weeknight meals. The recipe can be created as is or can be used as a basis for inspiring variations.

Caprese Pizza Ingredients

One of my favorite Italian appetizers is a simple Caprese Salad, so I decided to incorporate vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil into this easy Caprese Pizza Recipe. This simple Italian salad was originally made to resemble the colors of the Italian flag and is traditionally served as a starter dish. I personally love how fresh the dish is and how it translates beautifully into a gourmet pizza.

Ingredients
  • 1 cornmeal pizza crust 9-in.
  • 1/4 cup Ragú® Hearty Traditional Sauce
  • 2 Vine-Ripened Tomatoes sliced thickly
  • 4 ounces Fresh Mozzarella Pearls
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil chopped
  • Balsamic glaze
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F
  2. Arrange pizza crust on ungreased baking sheet
  3. Evenly spread Ragú® Hearty Traditional Sauce on crust, then top with cheese and vine-ripened tomatoes
  4. Bake 10 minutes or until cheese is melted
  5. Top with fresh basil
  6. Drizzle balsamic glaze over pizza and serve immediately

Tip: Wait until the pizza has cooled slightly to sprinkle the basil so it doesn’t brown.

In this dish, I used Ragù’® Hearty Traditional Sauce to give flavor and body to the pizza. This is my favorite Sauce in the Ragú® product line up because of it’s delightful simplicity. While it contains just a simple blend of tomatoes, herbs and seasonings, this particular sauce is incredibly versatile and I’ve used it for a wide variety of Italian dishes including pastas and pizzas.

Ragù® is recognizing and celebrating everything that makes your family’s mealtime #Saucesome. Right now, you can visit RaguSweeps.com for a chance to win a variety of #Saucesome prizes including weekly $1,000 prizes and the grand prize of $12,000 to use on a kitchen makeover.
