My husband watched my son today while I went to do grocery shopping at Whole Foods. That, my friends, was a luxury! The norm around here is for me to take my son with me wherever I go, including the grocery store. If you have children then you know that toting a tot or two to the grocery store is no easy feat. Just the other day I was at Target trying to unload groceries, get my son out of the grocery cart, and remove the shopping cart cover, all while holding the cart with my foot. I’ve actually had a cart roll into the parking lot and almost hit a car (fortunately without my son in the cart). More than once a friendly passerby has helped put the cart in a safe place while I get my son safely in the car. I can’t even imagine if I had to do this with a second child.
An ingenious mom (of course!) designed the perfect solution to runaway grocery carts. The Cart-Stopper “is an innovative, patent-pending device that drastically reduces the risk of child injury related to ‘run-away shopping carts.” This compact device is comprised of an “industrial strength suction cup” which attaches to your car, and a rope-like stretch latch which secures the grcoery cart. I wasn’t sure how much weight it would hold, so I tried it with groceries (and my son safely in his car seat). I was surprised that it held the cart without any problems. I’m very comfortable leaving my son in the cart while putting the groceries away because I know it’s not going to go anywhere. The suction device is very strong but it won’t do any damage to your car or the paint. They say good things come in small packages (or maybe it’s big things come in small packages). Regardless, this is a parent must-have! Most of my shopping trips are spur of the moment so I just keep it in the diaper bag!
The Cart-Stopper retails for $9.99 and is available in three colors (red, blue, and pink). By the way, you can stop by their blog for offers including a 20% discount code (WWMAG ).
