10 Must-Attend Events at Hispanicize 2015

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Four years ago, I received a phone call to speak at Hispanicize which has evolved into the largest Hispanic social media event bringing together professionals that span everything from journalist and blogging to marketing, entertainment and tech entrepreneurship. Even in Los Angeles, I knew that there really was no other event of its kind.  The conference has grown tremendously since its inception in Dallas 6 years ago and it is expected that over 2,000 Latino professionals will be in attendance.

Hispanicize

This year, along with sharing how this space is evolving on a panel titled,  The Evolving Influence of Latino Mom Digital Influencers (sponsored by Walt Disney World, I’m one of 24 Latino Digital Influencers! During this immersive week, I invite you to follow along with me from home via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook using the hashtag #Hispz15 for real-time updates from the sessions and events.  If you’re attending Hispanicize, I encourage you to download their free app to plan your agenda while keeping up with the attendees moment-by-moment.

The conference will be hosted at the luxurious Intercontinental Hotel located right on the water. I’m personally hoping that I might have some downtime to explore a bit of the city. If you’re planning to spend some time in Miami, I recommend reading this article for tips on places to eat and things to do from Latina.com.

This year’s schedule includes full-day sessions in the following tracks: Film, Journalism, Marketing, Music, and Social Media. I’ve been planning my own schedule, and while it would be impossible to highlight everything that is included in this 5-day event, here are my top 10 Must-Attend Events at Hispanicize 2015!

1. TECLA Awards:  If you are planning to arrive early, I highly recommend this annual celebration which recognizes excellence in Latino blogging, micro-blogging, social media and digital marketing.

2. Positive Impact Awards: Known for his kindness and commitment to giving his community a voice, this annual event was created as a homage to Louis Pagan, co-founder of Hispanicize to celebrate those who contribute selflessly to better their community.

3. Latinovator Lunches: Each of the four lunches will give attendees an opportunity to hear from celebrated achievers in this space including Dulce Candy, Don Francisco, Luis Guzmán, and Alberto Ciurana.

4. Hispanic Social Media Townhall: This annual gathering of some of the biggest names in this space will come together to discuss the changes taking place in the U.S. Hispanic Digital Space.

5.  Hands On Workshop: Get Rolling With Your YouTube Videos

6. Unveiling of 2015 Latina Digital Influencers Survey: For the second year in a row, Latina Mom Bloggers, iBlog Magazine, and Boden PR will share the results from their national survey including best practices for engaging with and building relationships with Latina bloggers.

7.  A Public Roundtable with the Nation’s Most Powerful Latina Journalists: In true “The View” – like fashion, 4 print and TV journalists will share today’s fashion, entertainment, and even politics as it pertains to the Latino community.

8. 2015 Google/YouTube Hispanic Market Update: Mark Lopez, the head of U.S. Hispanic Audience at Google will present their US Hispanic Market led efforts including how YouTube is driving online content.

9.  Red Carpet Film Screenings: Throughout the week, influencers will have several opportunities to screen up and coming films including the following: Skirting the Issues, Puerto Ricans in Paris, Limbo, Maria Montez, Unfriended, Rosa, Mille and the Lords, Home, It Can Only Be Used Once, and After School.

10.  Meet the Viral Video Latinos of YouTube and Facebook: Video continues to be an growing venue for influencers to share the content they have created.  It has often been said that if you are an influencer, you need to have a presence of YouTube. This particular session features some of the top creators in this space including Los Pichy Boys, Eddie Garcia, Jorge Narvaez, and Dulce Candy Ruiz.

So much has changed in the four years since I first attended Hispanicize and I’m incredibly excited and honored to be sharing with you the latest in Latino Social Media from the frontlines.
