With most schools off this week for Spring Break, I’ve been hearing from other moms how they’re spending this special time with their children. In areas of the country where the weather is beginning to warm up, families are getting outdoors to bike, picnic, play, and enjoy the beauty of nature. For those families who are still battling the winter snow, curling up with a good book or a movie around the fireplace is how they are connecting this Spring Break. Our son’s Spring Break doesn’t actually start until April, and while we’ll be spending plenty of time outdoors, we’ll also need a bit of downtime. Our kids love movie night, and thanks to Shout Factory, we’ll have a few more to add to our viewing collection.
Shout Factory recently released several films centered around kid favorites including My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop. Here is a brief intro to each of the new titles:
- A Monster in Paris: Set in 1910 France, this film is reminiscent of the classic tale of beauty and the beast. The story follows a monster who lives in a garden and his love for a beautiful young singer. Featuring beautiful CG animation, toe-tapping song-and-dance numbers, and a heartwarming story, A Monster In Paris is a delight for the entire family.
- My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – Adventures in the Crystal Empire: When a magical empire appears in the arctic north of Equestria, it will be up to Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle, and her friends to protect it. Will Twilight find the Crystal Heart that will keep their empire safe from harm?
- Littlest Pet Shop, Little Pets Big Adventures: Based on the popular animated series that follows Blythe Baxter and her father as they move into a Big City apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop Store, this DVD collection will include five episodes, bonus features, coloring sheets, and a special “Look Behind the Pet Shop Doors.” The Littlest Pet Shop Store is a day-camp for pets of all kinds including doggie diva, dancing gecko, sweet, adorable panda, and more. The adventures begin when Blythe discovers that she can talk to and understand all of the pets.
- SlugTerra: Return of the Shane Gang: The hit sci-fi comedy/adventure animated series that airs on Disney XD follows Eli Shane as he aspires to be the greatest Slugslinging hero of all. Eli collects, trains, and duels his SLUGS (which can transform into powerful magical beasts) in order to defeat the forces of evil.
- Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters DragonStrike: Young Ray, recruited by the mysterious duel masters, must use the art of Kaijudo to defend his home dimension from the sinister mastermind known as Choten. Choten is capable of summoning vicious beasts from a parallel dimension to wreak havoc across the Earth. This DVD features 5 episodes of the popular series.
