The day my son asked if we could take down the wall mural inspired by his favorite preschool character was bittersweet. His comment alerting me to the fact that “he was now too old for said character” was yet one more confirmation that the days are long but the years are disproportionately short. With our recent move and a brand new bedroom, it seemed like the perfect time to graduate my son into something a bit more reflective of his age and current interests.
Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron debuted in theaters earlier this month and not surprisingly, won over fans, becoming the 2nd highest grossing film of 2015. We are superhero super fans, so the weekend the film was released, we were at our local theater to delve into the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In the latest supercharged sequel, The Avengers assemble to defeat Ultron, a sophisticated villain bent on realizing the extinction of humans. Action, well-developed, relatable characters, and an exciting, original, story converge in a film that will immerse audiences deeper into the MCU.
While my kids are certainly at an age where they understand the basic plot of films like Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s the characters that they remember long after the credits have rolled. When either of my kids are “in” to something, their devotion is complete. My son was elated to learn that we’d be outfitting his room with his favorite Avengers characters.
The very first thing we did to transform his room into a “big boy” room was to change out all of his bedding. Walmart carries an Avengers: Age of Ultron Comforter and “Halo Sheet” set, both of which feature the latest characters from the film. Both the comforter and the sheet set feature bold, vibrant colors and realistic-looking characters reminiscent of the film. The twin sheet set includes a flat bed sheet, a fitted bed sheet and one pillowcase while the full set comes with an additional pillowcase. Each side of the pillowcases features a different “scene” and the comforter is reversible.
Admittedly, we often find that the comforter is primarily decorative as opposed to functional since the weather is often too hot for such a thick blanket. We are loving the new Avengers Plush Microfiber Throw, perfect for snuggling up with a movie or warming up on our brisk Spring evenings. Along with featuring 4 of the most popular Avengers, this throw is incredibly soft and large enough to keep warm.
Once the bedding has been changed out, add color and life to a room with Avengers Assemble Personalization Headboard Peel-and-Stick Wall Decals. These peel and stick decals are ideal for families who may not want to change out present color and can be removed from most surfaces without damage.
One easy way to instantly transform a room is to hang curtains. The Avengers-themed curtains feature four of the most popular characters from the franchise which correlate nicely with the bedding. The curtains feature a rod-pocket top for easy hanging and the tie backs allow for the curtains to frame the window nicely.
While my son may be too old for his preschool show characters, he still loves stuffed animals. I wasn’t surprised when he immediately made claims over the Hulk Pillow Buddy we received. What surprised me was when my daughter asked if she could share him! Having an older brother means that she often takes a liking to his toys, but her interest in the Avengers was something I didn’t quite expect. If you have more than one child or they are interested in a different character, be sure to check out Iron Man and Captain America to complete the Avengers Heroes Pillowtime Pal Collection.
If you’re looking for additional Kids’ Bedroom Style inspiration, be sure to visit the dedicated Avengers: Age of Ultron page on Walmart.com. You’ll also find an expansive selection of toys inspired by the film in the dedicated section of the toy department at your local Walmart store.
