How to Inspire An Epic Playdate
Playdates…Kids love them because they get to spend time with their friends, typically engaging in unstructured play. Parents love them because it allows for adult interaction and alleviates some of the stress of having to plan an activity for their children. Most of our playdates are simple…an afternoon at the park…ice cream and open play at our local indoor play space. But after our “epic playdate” with Hyundai, I think we’re going to have to kick it up a few notches.
The new 7-passenger 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe was the inspiration for this playdate..Why? Because the brand believes that every day should be epic (interestingly enough, I couldn’t agree more!).
Co-hosted by renowned bloggers Dooce, How to Be a Dad, Oh Happy Day, and Mighty Girl, we spent the day at Dos Pueblos Ranch, an expansive coastal ranch located north of Santa Barbara. As you might expect with a playdate, there were snacks, activities, and the coolest of friends…both familiar and new. We also got artsy with colored sand, expressive with poetry and photography sessions, scientific with paper rockets, and messy with tin foil, shaving cream, and paint.
The location was serene and picturesque and I actually came away with quite a few tips and ideas for hosting my own playdate. Many of the activities we participated in could also serve inspire quite a bit of birthday party fun.
Here are some photos from our epic mother-daughter playdate.
