It is the untold story of Oscar Diggs, otherwise known as the Wizard of Oz. Inspired by L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Disney’s latest 3D fantasy film Oz the Great and Powerful, is set before the 1939 film and details the story of how the circus magician transforms himself into the great Wizard of Oz.
Over the weekend, I screened the film in preparation for Sunday’s press junket. While I can’t disclose details at this time, I promise you’ll find all of the adventure, beauty and heart that you would expect from both Disney and Director Sam Raimi.
During the press day, I spent some time admiring the gorgeous, intricate costumes worn by the Wizard and the 3 witches. Here are some exclusive photos as well as a behind-the-scenes video clip detailing how each of the characters were transformed for the film.
Oz the Great and Powerful debuts in theaters March 8, 2013.
No compensation was received for this post. I was invited to a press junket which helped facilitate the writing of this post.
