My son is 13 months old and just now starting to walk. I’ve spent plenty of time hunched over trying to help him gain that last bit of confidence to actually let go. I’ve been told that once he takes off I’ll look back with longing for those days when I wasn’t chasing after him. My little boy and my back are getting some assistance and relief with Walking Wings.
I LOVE the fact that my son is becoming more mobile. While I relished in my little boys infancy, I joyously anticipate every new word, milestone, and skill. I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next. When we first started trying to teach him how to walk, we did what most parents do…we held him up by his hands. A little girl at my son’s play group has been walking for a few weeks and still walks with her hands in the air. It just so happened that while I was at BlogHer I had an opportunity to talk with UpSpring Baby about two of their most popular products (I’ll be sharing with you about the other later on this week). Walking Wings is a uniquely product designed to help babies nine months and older learn to walk. Perhaps if I had started my little boy earlier he’d be walking by now.
With Walking Wings, your baby will learn to balance naturally while learning to walk hands-free all while experiencing fewer falls. There are several things I like about this product.
I know that if he is going to fall, I have control over it. I like control…particularly when it comes to my son’s safety.
I don’t have to worry about becoming the Hunchback of Notre Dame before my time…and my back doesn’t hurt.
My irrational fear of dislocated arms is no longer an issue
I’ve actually been using this product for almost two weeks and my son is starting to let go and take several steps towards my husband and I. He actually gets excited and starts laughing when he’s coming towards one of us.
So how does it work? Walking Wings is a padded support vest which fastens around your baby’s chest. It has two adjustable, detachable straps with padded handles which means you don’t have to take it on and off. I would definitely suggest using it earlier rather than later. My son is now old enough to protest and he initially didn’t want to wear the product. Eventually he forgot that it was even on…
Walking Wings retails for $24.99. For more information, please visit the website.
