Even before I ever met my children, I was actively educating myself about how to provide a nurturing environment where my children would thrive physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. Everything I do is with their well-being and interests in mind, and just the thought of them during my pregnancy was the impetus I needed to live a healthier, greener lifestyle with a mind towards preserving the world they will live in.
As part of my journey towards living more sustainably, I spent quite a bit of time educating myself about the foods we eat and the products we use in and around our home. The challenge for me was not only finding companies that aligned with our values, but re-evaluating those longstanding brands that I have been loyal to for much of my life.
When I started working in the hospital as an RN, I remember feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over me as I bathed babies just a few hours old in the nursery with JOHNSON’S Baby Shampoo. My mother used JOHNSON’S Baby products on me as a child and I continued that tradition when my own kids were born. While the brand has longevity that dates back more than 100 years, they continue to listen and respond to their customers’ questions, feedback, and concerns. And in response to valid concerns about the ingredients in their products, they created a beautiful video and a promise.
Inspired by a Japanese legend that making 1,000 origami cranes signifies hope granted and a promise fulfilled, JOHNSON’S Baby brought together their scientists and families together to create 1,000 origami storks to deliver the promise that its customers and their families are what matters the most. While the ingredients in their products have always been safe according to their standards, in an effort to be transparent and offer families peace of mind, they changed their formula and removed a number of chemicals that were concerning. Here is a list of the changes you can expect to see in JOHNSON’S Baby products.
- JOHNSON’S Baby has now met their 2o13 Safety and Care Commitment to remove formaldehyde-releasing preservatives and traces of 1,4 dioxane from all baby products sold worldwide.
- JOHNSON’S Baby has removed parabens from most of their new and improved baby products ahead of their 2015 commitment. These products will continue to roll out on retail shelves.
As a mom, JOHNSON’S transparency and commitment to listening to it’s customers is valuable to me. “Your Promise is Our Promise” is JOHNSON’S commitment to moms and just like we make commitments to our children to provide a loving, safe, nurturing environment where our kids can reach their maximum potential, JOHNSON’S Baby makes this promise to families so they don’t have to worry about the products used on their children.
Families have been vocalizing their concerns and a desire for change and I appreciate that JOHNSON’S listened and is committed to changing their products and policies to reflect the latest science, regulations, and it’s customers views and concerns.
