I seriously don’t think there are many things that top homemade ice cream. Not only is homemade ice cream creamier than store-bought varieties, you can adjust the sweetness, create your perfect combination of flavors, and mix-in anything you can dream up. My ice cream maker is one of my most-used appliances, particularly during the summer when my kids go through ice cream like its water. I’ve made everything from a simple Strawberries & Cream Gelato to Clementine Sorbet in my ice cream maker. Our new favorite homemade ice cream is this Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Cream Recipe made with Once Again Chocolate Hazelnut Spread.

Once Again Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
Our family loves Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, and we’ve been known to spread it on toast, use it as a dip, or simply eat it straight from the jar (keeping it real!). With so many varieties available, I’ve had to read a lot of labels to ensure our favorite spread is made with clean ingredients.
Once Again Nut Butter recently introduced their latest gluten-free nut butter spread, Amoré. This organic hazelnut spread is made with Fairtrade organic cane sugar, organic roasted hazelnut paste, organic skimmed milk powder, Fairtrade organic cocoa powder, organic sunflower seed oil, and organic roasted peeled almond paste. Amoré does not contain artificial flavors, colors, cholesterol, hydrogenated oils, or trans fats, and is high in protein and fiber. Once Again Chocolate Hazelnut Spread is certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten-Free Certified, Fair Trade Certified, and has the cleanest label when compared against similar products on the market.
Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Cream Recipe
I have to admit that when I while I was taste testing, and deciding what recipe to make with this chocolate hazelnut spread, I almost ran out of the first jar. It is absolutely divine. The consistency is perfect for use as a dip or a spread on toast or biscuits and the mildly sweet cocoa flavor is delicious but does not overwhelm the flavor of roasted hazelnuts.
Since we are approaching summer, I decided to pull out my ice cream maker and dreamed up this Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Cream Recipe (inspired by this recipe here). If you have never used an ice cream maker to make homemade ice cream, it is important to remember that it will be softer in consistency than store-bought ice cream. That is because homemade ice cream does not contain artificial ingredients or preservatives. You can freeze the ice cream when it is done and it will firm up nicely. However, I prefer to make smaller batches and enjoy the ice cream from the ice cream maker when the consistency is perfect.
