Oh the messes they make! One of my “secret” reasons for getting out of the house with my children as often as possible, is to minimize the amount of messes I have to clean up on any given day. I never imagined that having laminate/tile floors downstairs would be advantageous, but I can’t imagine how much work I’d have if those floors were replaced with carpet.
When we moved into our home, we had a lot of work to do since it had been uninhabited for quite some time. Along with painting the interior of our home in it’s entirety, we replaced all of the carpeting on the second level with eco-friendly carpet made from recycled, natural fibers. With the installation of the carpet came a set of rules, including a “no shoes, no food, no drinks” rule. I remember how much time and effort it took to clean the carpets in our apartment and I wanted to minimize how often we’d rent a cleaner and spend an entire weekend cleaning carpets. Had I known this carpet cleaner existed, I might have been a bit more lenient with my “rules.”
For the same price as a conventional vacuum, you can invest in Hoover’s Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaner (ARV $229.99) and clean your carpets at your convenience. The machine, which resembles a vacuum in appearance, is designed to clean carpets and rugs easily and effectively. Additionally, it can be used on upholstery with the attachment provided.
Is it easy to set up?
I typically try to set up electronic devices and appliances without reading a manual, only referring to them when I get stuck because it gives me a sense of how complicated a product is. The machine requires minimal assembly and is just as easy to operate.
How does it work?
Hoover’s Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro Carpet Deep Cleaner utilizes pressurized cleaning to remove water, dirt, and grime from rugs and carpets and features heated drying for a quick dry time. Simply fill the clean water tank with hot water (the temperature is important and will improve results) and the detergent container with a Hoover detergent. If the detergent is concentrated, you’ll fill the chamber to a specific line and then add water as directed. Now you’re ready to clean your carpets!
1. Vacuum
2. Pre-treat stains or heavily soiled areas
3. Select the Wash/Rinse setting to Wash
4. Squeeze the handle to apply cleaning solution while pushing cleaner forward
5. Repeat step 4 while pushing cleaner back
6. Release the handle and push the cleaner forward, then backward until very little water is visible passing through the Dirty Water Tank Lid.
Tips on Using the Machine
1. Be sure to overlap the strokes so that no area is missed.
2. Start in one corner of the room, furthest from the door, to avoid walking over a wet area
3. Do not over-saturate the carpet. Instead, consider allowing the area to dry, then going back over spots that may have been missed.
How does it compare to professional carpet cleaners?
In the past, we’ve rented carpet cleaning machines and in my experience, Hoover’s home version is easier to use, more affordable, and as effective (if not superior). I like being able to see the dirty water being pulled into the chamber as this confirms that my carpet is in fact getting clean.
