With just over a week until Thanksgiving, my husband and I are quickly realizing how little shopping time we have left! When I was single, Black Friday shopping was this whirlwind of fun and my mom and I have many memories of waking up at 5 am to score the best deals. Shopping Black Friday with kids has been a bit tricky and in some instances, we’ve had to alter our plans due to family travel. But since we’re staying close to home this year, I have a Black Friday shopping plan and some tips to help you get prepared. 7 Essential Black Friday Tips
1. Do your homework! Begin perusing Black Friday ads as soon as they are available. This will help you decide which items you’ll want to purchase and gauge how long they will be available. 2. Make a list! This becomes important for remembering the items you want to purchase (including the advertised price) and who you want to shop for (in the event that you don’t have gift ideas in the works). A list is also crucial if your budget is tight to help keep you on task. 3. Start early! It goes without saying that the best deals will likely be secured early in the day. Items will likely run out and some prices can only be secured during a certain time frame.
4. Let technology be your guide! Many stores have free apps giving you mobile access to their local ad. This Black Friday, I’m using Walmart’s Mobile app to peruse my local ad, view Rollbacks, and compare prices. 5. Take care of you! Remember that stores will be crowded ,so be sure to eat well throughout the day (you might consider bringing snacks), take rest breaks, and carry a small bottle of antibacterial hand gel to keep germs at bay during this busy holiday season. 6. Know your store’s return policy! Since you’ll likely be shopping for other people, you’ll want to read over your store’s return policies in the event that an item isn’t what your gif-tee expected. 7. Keep your receipts! Not only will this be important in case you have to return an item, it will also help you secure the best price in the event that an item goes on sale after Black Friday.

Last year, Walmart introduced their One-Hour Guarantee and because of its popularity, they have brought it back! This year, there will be 21 items that customers can purchase between 6 pm and 7 pm or 8 pm and 9 pm on Thursday, November 28th. Customers must be in the designated line between these times to secure these top gifts at unbeatable prices. And to make the process seamless, Walmart will hand out wristbands so customers can shop while they wait for these shopping events. Shoppers with wristbands in the designated lines are guaranteed to receive the items they purchased that night or before Christmas if that particular store happens to sell out. Finally, Walmart will introduce Manger’s Specials this year on Friday, November 29th from 8 am to 2 pm. Walmart will drop prices on entire categories and brands that are most in demand this holiday season. Local store managers will also drop prices on items at their discretion.
