We don’t need a lot of incentive to set out for a frozen treat, particularly during these hot summer months. My kids aren’t terribly picky when it comes to ice cream and frozen yogurt, but because of my son’s allergies, we typically visit a venue that can accommodate his needs. When I learned Menchie’s was opening up a location in Laguna Niguel, I knew we’d be spending many summer afternoons cooling off with their frozen yogurt and sorbet.
Unlike many locations boasting a similar concept, Menchie’s distinguishes itself by ensuring that only the highest quality of milk and flavors are used in their frozen yogurt. With its roots in California, I was pleased to learn that Menchie’s proprietary frozen yogurt is made from California cows which have not been treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST) or GMOs. And while I still consider frozen yogurt a treat, I like it as an alternative to ice cream because of the live and active cultures each serving contains. Plus if you’re trying to avoid artificial ingredients like our family is, you’ll be happy to learn that Menchie’s uses natural flavors and real cake, cookies, spices, fruits, and nuts.
You also won’t find high fructose corn syrup in their frozen yogurt, which is a common ingredient in ice cream and frozen desserts. Many of their frozen yogurt options are gluten-free and every store offers at least one (and often 2) vegan (sorbet) options.
Walking into a Menchie’s store is an experience and one my kids have absolutely enjoyed. Their store in Laguna Niguel is colorful and inviting, and like their mission statement, my kids walk out smiling.
The smell of freshly-baked waffle cone bowls is absolutely divine and you can watch employees making them in-store.
You’ll always find at least one Featured Flavor, and this month it’s Chocolate Glazed Heath Bar. Additionally, Menchie’s offers at least one No Sugar Added variety, one Low Carb variety, and one Vegan (sorbet) variety.
Along with mixing and matching flavors, my kids’ absolutely love topping their frozen yogurt with sweets and treats and Menchie’s has quite the variety. From fresh fruit and nuts to cereal and candy, you’ll likely find something delightful to top your frozen yogurt with!
One of the things I learned while visiting Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Laguna Niguel was their commitment to give back to the local community. This particular location has partnered with a local high school’s anti-bullying program and a portion of their proceeds will be donated to them.
