I vaguely remember attending one of my very first musicals with my mother. I was 8 or 9 and the show was Annie...I was hooked! At the time, I didn't know if I simply enjoyed the theater or actually wanted to be a part of it. One improv class in high school set me straight!
Every chance I get I'm at the theater. And, it just so happens that one of my very good... Read More »

How are you doing on those resolutions? For me, it's a constant and conscious effort to make sure I'm taking care of myself through fitness, a healthy diet, improved sleep, and stress management. I have a fitness and nutrition plan and am still working out how I'm going to manage my time so that sleep takes a higher priority. And as far as stress management goes... Read More »

It's 5pm in LA on a Saturday night and I'm hanging in a 10,000 square foot art exhibition space/cafe with Japanese cosplay maids dressed in French maid outfits and pink earmuffs serving cookies and lollipops. Did I mention that I'm at an art exhibition...for children? Or that Tobey Maguire just might have made an appearance? Only in LA!
Royal/T's latest exhibit is TA... Read More »

In January, Cirque du Soleil's OVO will debut under the big top at the Santa Monica Pier. If there is any show that would be appropriate for children, I would venture to say it's this one. OVO takes guests into the world of insects as they work, eat, play, and fight. I was reading about the show earlier this week and was very intrigued.

One of my favorite memories as a young, single woman were those last minute, impromptu visits to the theater (alone, at that). I've always been drawn to the arts, particularly musical theater, and at that time, dreamed of one day seeing a show on Broadway or in London. I've since seen numerous shows both on Broadway and in London, and while both are renowned for t... Read More »

For the first time in many years, my husband and I will venture to prepare most of our family's Thanksgiving meal. Our family doesn't follow tradition, so this year, we've incorporated some deliciously gourmet flavors like pomegranate and fennel into our menu. Endeavoring to make the turkey has me a bit nervous, but with the help of my husband and some guidance fr... Read More »

Not only is it the most important meal of the day, it's my favorite meal of the day. Perhaps it's because breakfast is the meal where I see the most diversity. Frittatas, scones, muffins, waffles, granola, fruit...Yum!
Up until a few years ago, I didn't know much about gluten intolerance and Celiac disease. Now I can list 10 or more people I know personally w... Read More »

They're 4 and 18 months...and they make messes like no other. I know it's their age, but I am constantly cleaning up juice and crumbs, wiping faces and floors, and scrubbing windows and walls. My son just turned four, and for the last few months, we've slowly been giving him small chores to complete to encourage responsibility.
I don't know a single child (part... Read More »

When people ask me what my son with food allergies eats, I typically tell them he eats like a Vegan...a Vegan who eats meat! Before my son was diagnosed with food allergies, I knew very little about the subject. My knowledge was limited to children who experienced life-threatening, anaphylactic reactions to things like nuts.
Earlier this week, an article was re... Read More »

Have you ever done something so surreal, you had to pinch yourself to believe it was actually happening? Fifteen years ago, Cirque du Soleil's Quidam premiered in Montreal, Canada. After a successful world tour, it's coming to Long Beach for just eight performances (over 5 days). I have yet to see the show, but here is a brief synopsis:
