How many times have you tried to steer your child away from the pet store, afraid that you would finally cave to their pleads for a new furry friend? Have you secretly cringed when your child decides that a mouse, lizard, frog, or snake makes the perfect addition to the family? Children love animals but often don’t understand the amount of commitment that is required to care for them.
Hasbro’s Littlest Pet Shop, is a fab way to fulfill your child’s desire for all things Fido without the mess! From collectible pets and playsets, to their new cuddly plush VIPs (virtual interactive pets), Littlest Pet Shop has over 300 pets your little girl will love collecting and taking care of.
With the help of my little product testers, we registered, and formerly adopted a VIP, Floppy the bunny. The registration and adoption process was simple and fun (but does require the assistance of a parent/adult in my opinion). We named our little bunny and then embarked on a fun-filled virtual adventure. The girls could literally spend hours online (it’s best to set a time limit) completing the scavenger hunt, earning kibble coins, and decorating Floppy’s house. Girls can take their pet to the vet for a check, outfit their pet at the virtual pet boutique, and earn their chance at prizes by playing games.
What’s great about this new line is that your little girl will be able to interact with her friends who also have VIPs. Add an old friend, make a new friend…it’s like Myspace…for pets!
In order to make your child’s pet come alive, you will need a computer (PC or MAC) with an internet connection (their website recommends a broadband connection). Your pet’s secret code is hidden in the collar.
Each VIP retails for $14.99 and can be purchased online here. If your little girl would like to borrow a pet, sign up here. She’ll be begging you for her very own in no time.
The virtual fun keeps getting better with Littlest Pet Shop’s new twist on digital pets…digital pens! What girl doesn’t love writing and drawing? Portable, convenient, and multifaceted, digital pens are fun and functional. My little product testers had fun feeding and caring for our little bunny. More importantly I believe this product begins teaching children responsibility and a sense of time. Our bunny needed to be fed 3 meals during specific time frames, groomed prior to playing, cleaned up after using the potty, and put to sleep (there is a cute little song that is played when your pet is going to sleep). There are also incentives for proper pet care. Each day your child feeds her pet properly, a new game will be unlocked. When she beats the high score, addtional hidden games are revealed. What a great way to assess your child’s readiness for a real feline or canine friend!
Why not instill a sense of ownership and foster responsibility with a virtual pet from Littlest Pet Shop? Each digital pen retails for $12.99 and can be purchased online here.
BTW…don’t forget about Littlest Pet Shop’s collectible pets. These adorable pets are fun and have a jazzy new look! They’re the Barbie of collectible pets. Each product retails for $3.99 – $5.99 and can be purchased online here.
Right now you can save %10 on all Littlest Pet Shop products at HasbroToyShop.com. Enter promotion code LPS8. Through April 30, 2008, each product you purchase will have a code that you enter online for a chance to win 1 of over 300 prizes, including a trip for 4 to attend an Aly and AJ concert.
