Me: “The house is a mess…again!”
Jason: “Welcome to parenthood”
From crumbs on the floor to potty training accidents, my husband and I never really prepared ourselves for the messy side of parenting. A few years ago, my husband told a classic story about the time my son’s mess got out of control. I wish that was the extent of the messes we’ve cleaned up in the five years we’ve been working to perfect the art of parenting.
For the next few weeks, I’ll be participating in a campaign with Huggies, along with 19 other Latina mom bloggers. As part of Mamás Para Huggies, I’ll be sharing my own messy, parenting challenges and what I’m doing to overcome them.
Huggies recently partnered with Mexican TV personality Poncho de Anda and his wife to create a series of webisodes offering tips and advice to Hispanic parents as they navigate the challenges of parenthood.
I love that as a father, he recognizes the importance…the value of parents banding together. As a woman, I’ve been seeking out wisdom from my girlfriends for years on everything from makeup, hair, and beauty tips to pregnancy remedies and parenting tips. More and more fathers are stepping up the plate to be active and involved in the raising of their children and Poncho de Anda is a wonderful role model for Hispanic fathers.
There is so much joy in raising a child, despite the fact that it’s not always easy. One of the very unexpected challenges of becoming a parent was the hard work my husband and I would have to put into making our relationship a priority. It is too easy to get absorbed in the day-to-day tasks of raising children and unknowingly neglect to spend time talking, laughing, and just being with each other. I appreciated Poncho de Anda’s perspective and advice on setting a bedtime and sticking to it, so that there is time for couples to nurture their relationship. I could definitely stand to take his advice.
