Village Tea Company

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

Most mornings you’ll find me drinking a cup of tea (particularly now that I can’t drink coffee).  Tea has incredible health benefits, most of which are related to it’s antioxidant properties. A few years ago, I was introduced to Rooibos, a naturally caffeine-free red tea. Rooibos has been shown to “promote the production of antibodies when the immune systems are challenged.”  It’s also safe for everyone (my 2 1/2 year old son enjoys a  strawberry-vanilla rooibos tea).

We recently sampled a loose leaf Rooibos tea, courtesy of Village Tea Company.   The Sweet Grace Vanilla red tea is “a soothing flavor of vanilla and the naturally sweet and mildly nutty palate of rooibos tea.” I prefer it hot, with milk (no sugar) but it also tastes good cold.  Because it’s a loose leaf tea, I feel like I am able to get a richer flavor (and can make it as strong as I like it).  I actually find the tea to be very flavorful (it smells as good as it tastes too!).

If you like iced tea, the company suggests a few different recipes (with a twist):

Summer Cider Refresher

1 part cooled Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos

1 part apple cider

Mix with ice.

Positively Peach Sparkler

1 part cooled Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos

1 part peach nectar

1 part seltzer

Mix with ice.

Berry Vanilla Iced Tea

1 parts cooled Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos

1 part Cran-Raspberry juice

Mix with ice.

I made the Summer Cider Refresher and it was…refreshing!  I didn’t think the vanilla and apple would go together but they actually compliment each other well.  Sweet Grace Vanilla retails for $12.95 and makes 35-40 servings.  For more information or to visit a location, just visit their website.

Right now you’ll save $5 off any purchase with the code “theluxuryspot5” and free shipping by using the code “villageteaco2009”.  (valid through March 31, 2010).

I did not receive compensation for this post.  A product sample was provided to facilitate this review.
