This week, our family will gather to catch up and spend some time together. If you can believe it, my husband and I will unplug and focus on making the most of the weekend. Ironically this post is about social media…so before you unplug for Thanksgiving (and I do encourage you to do that), check out the new Giving Thanks Facebook App, developed by ToonUps.
While I’m not a fan of many apps that waste too much time, I do like Giving Thanks because it’s a way to encourage others and remind both ourselves and each other what we’re thankful for. The app is free of charge and includes two main features: The Gratitude Grotto and the Positive Post. Once you’ve “allowed” the application to connect to your profile, you can start customizing your avatar. Choose your gender, hair and eye color, clothing, etc.
Once you’ve completed your avatar, you can start posting in either portal or viewing what others are saying. Earn Do-Good Gold (which can be used when the full game launches) by posting in either portal. I like it because it doesn’t take a lot of time, and can be used to uplift those around you. If you’re looking to teach your children about giving back, expressing gratitude, or being positive, play Giving Thanks together.
The Giving Thanks app is free and allows you to preview the ToonUps Facebook game A Better World, set to launch next month.
