5 Things You Must See and Do at Walt Disney World This Summer!

The latest Southern California heat wave has our family longing for summer, and we can’t wait until school is out to satisfy our wanderlust passions. Each summer that passes continues that proverbial countdown to launching my children into the world, so I make it a point to fill this time with lasting memories they will carry in their hearts.  From summer camping in the mountains of Mammoth to winter road trips to our nation’s Capital, we’re always looking for adventures that will engage my kids which is why we’re excited about the Coolest Summer Ever, beginning Memorial Day weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort.  Comprising 4 theme parks and 2 water parks, there are seemingly endless opportunities to experience the magic and merriment of the resort. With so much to see and do, here are 5 things you must see and do at Walt Disney World this Summer.

Star Wars Weekends

1. Star Wars Weekends: Beginning May 15, guests will have an opportunity to relive moments from their favorite Star Wars films including special shows, presentations, autographs from actual Star Wars characters and film-inspired dining experiences.

Frozen Fun

2. Frozen Fun: Inspired by the #1 animated film of the same name, families will enjoy the Frozen procession, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Olaf’s Summer Cool Down, Hot Frozen Nights DJ Dance Party, Frozen Fireworks, and Frozen themed treats and merchandise.

Light the Night

3. Nighttime Experiences at Epcot: Epcot remains one of my favorite parks at the Walt Disney World Resort because of its diverse, international flair and celebration of technological innovation. This summer, the resort will introduce a series of new entertainment acts throughout the Epcot World Showcase including a summer twist to Voices of Liberty.  During the nightly fireworks spectacular, sample elegant desserts from around the world and enjoy a glass of wine during the IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party. This VIP dining experience also includes premium viewing of the World Showcase Lagoon.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

4.  New Fantasyland:  Last year, Walt Disney World completed it’s New Fantasyland expansion which includes the following new attractions/restaurants: Dumbo, the Flying Elephant, the Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini, Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Princess Fairytale Hall, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Pete’s Silly Slideshow, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Gaston’s Tavern, and Ariel’s Grotto.

The Boathouse Restaurant

5. Disney Springs: Downtown Disney is in the midst of a chic makeover, and while the transformation won’t be complete until 2016, many new shops and restaurants have debuted including the Marketplace Co-Op featuring 6 boutiques, The Boathouse, offering luxury waterfront dining, and Morimoto Asia, the infamous Iron Chef’s first pan-Asian dining experience with flavors from across Asia.

MagicBands

With so much to do and see at the Walt Disney World Resort, local Florida residents will want to take advantage of special savings at the resort with the Discover Disney Ticket. For just $139 per person, enjoy 3 days of experiences at the Walt Disney World theme parks with the option to add a 4th day for $20 more. Remember to visit MyMagic+ to plan your vacation including Disney FastPass+ experiences and Magic Bands. You can also download the My Disney Experience mobile app to manage daily plans, view reservations, tickets, and FastPass+ selections.

 Walt Disney World

As a family, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to the summer season and when we’ve often jet-setted for a long weekend away. To celebrate, the both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort will once again host simultaneous 24-hour kick-off events. Beginning March 22nd at 6 am, guests are invited to celebrate Summer with new and iconic attractions and entertainment.

Disneyland

At the Walt Disney World Resort, guests will enjoy character greetings, dance parties, and additional magical surprises. Remember to show your #DisneySide by wearing your favorite character-inspired costume.

At the Disneyland Resort, guests will enjoy dancing, character encounters, and Diamond decor, and 3 brand-new nighttime spectaculars in honor of Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration.

Summer at Walt Disney World

This bi-coastal summer kick-off celebration is just the beginning of all the magic and merriment families can experience at Disney Parks. For more information visit DisneyWorld.com/CoolestSummerEver.
