The Shanghai Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China have been captivating fans with their award-winning performances for over 57 years with exhilarating music and radiant costumes. Owned by the artistic entities of governmental finance allocation, the Shanghai Acrobats have become one of the most influential and competitive acrobatic companies in China.
On October 1st, 2016, the Shanghai Acrobats will perform a brand new show titled Shanghai Nights at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The performance tells the story of a dreaming boy who enters a fantasy world where he finds a beautiful fairy phoenix whom he follows on an adventure.
This spectacular show will feature more than 100 aerial acrobats, trampoline artists, jugglers and contortionists. Fusing China’s rich cultural heritage with heart-stopping acrobatics, the show will thrill and amaze guests this Fall. Through their touring shows, the Shanghai Acrobats have introduced Chinese acrobatic and circus art to the world.

- Founded in 1959, The Shanghai Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China has become one of the most influential, competitive acrobatic companies in China.
- The company has toured in more than 30 countries including the US, Germany, Spain, Britain, Mexico, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, Turkey, Canada, Indonesia, Fiji, Cameroon, Guinea and Nigeria.
- The Shanghai Acrobats have toured with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Cirque du Soleil’s Mystère and performed at Stardust’s World Christmas circuses in Germany and The Netherlands.
- This tour will bring Shanghai Nights to the United States for the first time.

There will be two performances of Shanghai Nights on October 1st, 2016 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.
