Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and an influx of Halloween costumes signal the approach of Fall and the advent of the holiday season. We went from summer playdates with friends and nightly swims to early mornings and homework overnight, it seems. Fortunately, the busyness of school and sports is mitigated by a wealth of fun, celebratory holidays.
In anticipation of the spooktacular Fall season, Sony Pictures Animation just released The Legend of Smurfy Hollow, a brand new animated mini-movie that takes a smurftastic spin on the classic story. This clever, not-too-spooky film follows Gutsy Smurf, who sets out on an investigative journey to find out how Brainy Smurf manages to win the annual Smurfberry Hunt every single year. His adventures take him into Smurfy Hollow and Gargamel’s trap. Brainy and Gutsy must put aside their rivalry and work together to evade the evil wizard before he captures them or they come face-to-face with the legendary Headless Horseman.
At just over 20 minutes, the film is perfect for even the youngest of tots. It never gets too scary and there are several themes parents can discuss with their children, including what it means to be a good friend.
The Legend of Smurfy Hollow features the voice talents of Hank Azaria, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, and Anton Yelchin, all of whom are familiar from the original film. Much like its 2 predecessors, the film merges innovative computer generated imagery with traditional hand-drawn animation. We’re celebrating this spooktacular DVD release, with a smurftastic giveaway.
