Struggling To Find The Perfect Gift? Let Shopycat Assist!

It’s the season of giving, and while I found some incredible deals on Black Friday, I’m still struggling to find gifts for a handful of friends and family members.  Interestingly enough, my greatest shopping challenges include finding gifts for close friends and family.  When you’ve been shopping for the same person for years, it requires a bit of creativity to gift them with something new and meaningful.

It just might be that our time has seen one of the biggest spikes in technology usage.  So it doesn’t surprise me that right in the midst of the holiday shopping season, a new app designed to help you find the perfect gift would be developed.

Shopycat, a new Facebook app just launched by Walmart, aims to help users find gifts for friends and family members based on their interests.  The app triggers gift ideas like music, books, movies and electronics from websites like Walmart, Red Envelope, ThinkGeek ,and Barnes & Noble which are based on previous interests. For an example, my husband recently shared an interest in Disneyland and the app recommended Disney Parks: Secrets Stories & Magic Behind the Scenes (a DVD box set).  My friend Shannon is a huge movie lover so the appy recommended a variety of DVDs. Shopycat will recommend gift cards for those not active on Facebook.

Shopycat features include the ability to find and purchase gifts for friends and family members based on interests and receive gifts you actually want.  The more interests you share, the more recommendations.

I think the app would be very useful when it comes to shopping for someone you don’t know very well. For friends and family members, it offers suggestions not typically thought of.
