The single most important way to prevent the spread of germs is handwashing. This is like a mantra that is repeated over and over in hospitals until you’re washing your hands in your sleep! That is why I really liked the invention of antibacterial hand gels like Purell. New concerns over alcohol in these gels has prompted companies like Airborne to develop other ways to get people washing their hands. Introduce Squid Soap, a product designed for kids to teach and encourage them to wash their hands for the 20 seconds necessary to rid the child’s hands of those nasty little bugs. I recently had the opportunity to review Airborne’s Squid Soap and I have to say it’s innovative, creative, and fun for kids. The soap has a fresh and fun smell and the ink is actually a non toxic vegetable dye. Here is how it works: “Ink” the hands, wash for 20 seconds and ta da…clean, microbe free hands! You know their hands are clean when the dye is off. Josh is not old enough so I tried it out on Auntie Caryn’s girls and they LOVED it! I have to say it took longer than 20 seconds to remove the ink and I still saw a slight mark even after they scrubbed. Overall I think this is a fun way for kids to learn the proper way to wash hands. Get inked! If you want to try Squid Soap, head on over to their website for a coupon!
