Six Star Protein Introduces Plant-Based Vegan Smoothies

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

My husband and I had a conversation a couple weeks ago about my lack of appetite during the summer months. Given his insatiable love for food, he totally didn’t get it. But what I tried to explain to him was the fact that the summer heat typically has me drinking so many liquids, that I’m often not hungry enough for a full meal.  “Grazing” or eating small, frequent meals is actually quite healthy and maintains consistent blood sugar, and while I tend to eat this way regularly, it becomes more frequent during the warmer months.

Since I have been eating smaller meals, I thought it might be a good idea to stock up on some nutrient-rich foods like protein bars and shakes. Interestingly enough, my husband and I utilize both in different ways, for different purposes.  I like bars and shakes as an “in-between” snack while he uses them to help boost his energy after a workout. We typically purchase these items from our local health and nutrition store, but as you can imagine, the products can be quite expensive. Since Walmart added Six Star Protein’s bars and smoothies to their shelves, I thought I would give them a try given their incredibly affordable price and favorable nutrition profile.

Protein Bars

Six Star Protein is a well-known brand in the fitness realm and offers a complete line of supplements designed to help athletes achieve results.  The Protein Bars pack 20 grams of protein and contain 190-200 calories and 6-8 grams of fat.  They’re available in Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Deluxe and retail for just $0.98/bar at Walmart. I’m a complete chocoholic, so I naturally preferred the Chocolate Deluxe over the Chocolate Peanut Butter, but I truly found each flavor to be delightful and surprisingly filling.

Instant Protein Smoothie

My husband refuels daily with a protein shake and asserts that it is what helps him recover after an intense workout.  Six Star Protein’s Instant Protein Smoothies are vegan and plant-based, and contain 15 grams of protein, 21 vitamins and minerals, 6 grams of fiber, and probiotics.  The smoothie includes a healthy blend of broccoli, spinach, and blueberries and can be prepared by simply adding juice, water or milk (my preference). You can also include the Instant Protein Smoothie into your own frozen shake or smoothie creations.

Both products are now available at Walmart.

Glad to know this product has helped your husband. I just bought it today and am not crazy about the taste, but will use it
in my smoothies anyway. As long as there are no negative reactions then I am okay with this. I exercise daily and try to take care of my health by eating lots of veggies. So I thought this product might be a good thing to add to my nutrition.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Wishing you lots of good health.
