When I was pregnant with my son I read. A lot! I wanted to do everything right. One of the things I was adamant about was not giving my son juice. I didn’t think I could find any nutritional reason to give him juice. Unfortunately my efforts to instill the “water only” rule failed miserably and I’ve resorted to giving him a limited amount of watered down juice.
Knudsen has partnered with The Berenstain Bears to offer the best juice alternative I’ve found on the market (and I do a lot of research). My son watches The Berenstain Bears on Sprout so he was really excited when he saw the box of Sensible Sippers I gave him after lunch the other day. Sensible Sippers certified USDA Organic juice boxes are 50% organic juice and 50% water. The result is a beverage you’ll feel good about letting your children drink. Sensible Sippers contain filtered water, juice concentrates, and fruit purees. You won’t find find added sugar, artificial flavors or preservatives. One four once box contains 30-35 calories and 7-9 grams of sugar.
I looked at the 365 Organic juice boxes I bought awhile ago for my son and they have almost 3 times as many calories and grams of sugar. Yikes! I’ve seen these so many times at Whole Foods and thanks to Knudsen and the Family Review Network, we were able to try the apple and fruit punch varieties. The best thing is that they taste good (my son has had one every day except for yesterday when my husband gave him 2!).
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents limit juice consumption to 4-6 ounces a day so the portion size is appropriate. It’s mildly annoying when I have to open up a bigger juice box and guesstimate how much to give my son. I can grab one and go without having to water it down!
You can purchase Sensible Sippers at Whole Foods for approximately $3.99-$4.49 (for an 8 pack). Download a coupon here.
Profuse thanks to Knudsen and the Family Review Network for this review opportunity.
