When my son was a baby I couldn’t wait for him to start walking (and talking, and dancing, and…). I am one of those parents that tend to be a little neurotic when it comes to milestones (after all…I’m a nurse). I’ve eased up a bit with my daughter, but continuously strive to ensure I’m doing my part to assist my children in accomplishing everything from taking those first steps to reading a book.
Have you ever heard that the best way for a child to learn to walk is barefoot? Toddlers who are just learning to walk can better grasp the floor when they are barefoot, minimizing slips and falls. When outside protection is needed, a soft, flexible, proper-fitting shoe with support is optimal for developing feet.
ShooShoos is a company with it’s origins in Cape Town, and now offers soft soles for babies cruising and learning to walk, and smileys for active toddlers on the go. About a year and a half ago, we reviewed the smileys and really appreciated the non-slip, waterproof, flexible soles for outdoor use. For indoor use and babies just learning to walk, we like the soft soles. These baby shoes feature eco-friendly leathers, a soft, flexible, non-slip sole, and a wide toe box to accommodate growing feet.
Not only do the shoes support the development of growing feet, they come in adorable colors and styles. These ballet shoes feature an elasticized ankle and a velcro closure, to ensure they’re not only easy to put on, but will stay on. When we’re inside, particularly on flooring or tile, these are perfect for my daughter. They provide protection and make it easier for her to explore without worrying about slipping and falling. I still prefer the smileys for outdoor play but these are an affordable, stylish, indoor shoe, particularly for early walkers.
