Shakespeare By The Sea

Posted by Caryn Bailey 2 Comments

Have you ever done something so surreal, you had to pinch yourself to believe it was actually happening?  Before my son was born, my husband and I spent almost a year in Europe and the UK working and traveling.  In that time period, we backpacked across more than 12 countries.  We saw and did things I had only read about in books….things like riding a mule up to the main city of Fira on the Greek Island of Santorini, visiting Mozart’s house and the gardens from The Sound of Music in Salzburg, Austria, and attending a performance of Antony and Cleopatra at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon (just to name a few).  We’re long past the days where we can do such a trip, but our love for travel (and Shakespeare) did not end when we had kids.

Shakespeare by the Sea offers free performances for families in cities across Los Angeles and Orange County.  This season will open with the romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing on June 9th followed by The Tragedy of King Lear on June 16th.  Performances will run through mid-August with showtimes at either 7 pm or 8 pm.  This is a great way for families to come together to experience Shakespeare.  You might even arrive early and have a family picnic!

For more information including showtimes and locations, just visit Shakespeare by the Sea.

I love shows like this. I can’t wait to go to my next Broadway show. How are you, btw?
