This is part of a sponsored collaboration with HBO and DiMe Media. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
My parents often told me growing up that I learned the ABCs, my 123s, and everything in-between on Sesame Street. The show was a favorite in my childhood home and I have fond memories of sitting with my father as we watched, engaged and learned from the Sesame Street Muppets.
As infants and toddlers, my kids didn’t really watch TV. When they were finally old enough, I was incredibly selective about what they would watch. My goal was to integrate shows that would provide an engaging learning experience, and my go-to was Sesame Street.
As a family, we have our own nostalgia and memories of the characters. Local museums have integrated the Sesame Street characters into unique, hands-on experiences that have teach children the inner workings of their body and how to keep it healthy.
Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby were front runners in all-things social media and even shared their Best Blogging Tips during one of the largest and most prominent conferences for women in social media.
I even Interviewed Elmo live!
Most recently, I caught up with the Sesame Street characters at Beaches Turks & Caicos.
This weekend, Sesame Street will debut it’s 46th season on HBO and HBO Latino. The nation’s leading premium cable network will air both new and classic episodes from the last five seasons of Sesame Street. While everything you loved about the show has been preserved, there are some subtle changes, including shorter, engaging 30 minute episodes, a vibrant new set, an updated theme song and opening occurring on Sesame Street, a new “member” of the neighborhood, Nina (played by Suki Lopez), and fresh new episodes that teach kids to be “smarter, stronger, and kinder” through bedtime, boo-boos and animal segments.
The first 2 episodes will premiere on Saturday, January 16th at 9 am ET/8 am CT on HBO. Subsequent new episodes will debut every Saturday followed by a repeat. Spanish-speaking families will appreciate the debut of these new episodes simultaneously on HBO Latino in Spanish. If your family can’t get enough of Sesame Street, be sure to watch current and past seasons daily on HBO Family at 8 am or stream live on HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO On Demand.
If you have a favorite memory of Sesame Street, I encourage you to share it here or online using the hashtag #SesameStreetOnHBO. For more information you can visit HBOKids.com.
