Last week I told you about a fabulous shoe company for children called Eleven. For those of you with children under the age of three (or children who wear sizes in that age range), there is a sister company called See Kai Run, specializing in “urban footwear for first steps.” The company was inspired by a mom with a need for comfortable shoes with flexible soles for outdoor use. Her son was the inspiration for the idea and name of the company. Her line of shoes are as bold, hip, and fun as her son and his personality!
I had an opportunity to check out the Ocean style with my son. The first thing I noticed about both collections (Eleven and See Kai Run) is the quality. They’re soft, flexible, and supportive…the type of shoe I imagine putting on my toddler’s feet. The rubber soles have a nice grip on them which is great for tots just learning to walk. Here are a few features about the shoes that make them perfect for a child’s developing feet:
- Very flexible soles are healthy for developing feet.
- Wide opening and toe box accommodate even the chubbiest little feet.
- Velcro closure allows for adjustable fit and easy on and off.
- Leather lining is breathable and durable.
- Padded collar adds comfort and helps our shoes stay on little feet.
- Leather used for our footwear meets the most stringent available U.S. and international guidelines.
- Sheepskin leather uppers are butter-soft and more durable by weight than cow leather used by many other brands.
- Durable construction and rubber sole stand up to heavy play indoors and out.
The Ocean sandals are perfect for summer. They’re stylish, comfortable, and most importantly safe. Any time my son is out playing, I’m concerned he’ll slip on water, sand, or some other substance. The grip on the soles makes me feel very comfortable, particularly when he tells me “I need to run!” (toddlers are so funny). These shoes are moderately priced at $38.00 and I believe they’re worth every penny. I have easily spent between $50 and $60 on ONE pair of shoes for my son. There are some things I believe are worth spending money on, and quality shoes for children (or anyone really) are just one of those things.
One of the things I found really interesting about the company is that the owner designs a new collection of 15-20 designs twice a year (I wish I had that kind of creativity inside me!). Fashion is important to me and I am so impressed with the variety of designs the company offers for boys (who traditionally get left out!). Many of the styles are on sale right now, so be sure to check out the entire site!
