One of my favorite tips to staying cool and healthy is to make up yummy fruit smoothie pops. Just mix up your favorite smoothie, freeze in popsicle molds, and enjoy! Also- try putting a banana on a stick and freezing that for a perfect and easy snack!
My survive-summer tip is to fill a spritzer-type bottle and keep it in the fridge… when you get too hot, take it out and spritz your face & neck… It really helps. (if recycling an empty bottle of non-cleaning product, just make sure it’s thoroughly cleaned…)
Summer Tip ~ use lots of sunscreen and be sure to re-apply. Nothing like sunburn to spoil the fun!

We are going on a driving trip from Texas to Wisconsin! It should be a lot of fun.
My best summer tip is to get outside first thing in the morning, when the air isn’t as hot! Plus this helps me get going in the morning and not waste away the nice days inside!
Summer Tip: Don’t just apply sunscreen one time, re-apply OFTEN. I got a very serious sun burn one summer when I did not re-apply. I really paid for it.

My best summer tip is to respect Mother Nature: wear light clothing, a hat, sunblock and drink lots and lots of water. If you take care of yourself, you’ll feel well enough to really enjoy all that summer has to offer.

My favorite summer tip is to avoid drinks that contain caffine, they hold in body heat. Drink plenty of water instead to cool off!
teach your children and husband sunscreen is a necessary part of life…
always keep a totebag ready for beach and pool in the trunk
U never know and you are always prepared
Wear sunscreen every day when you go out.
Have a big family gathering – eat, laugh, and be merry. Just did that today – family is rarely all together. It was hard work, lots of prep, and just got done mopping the floor, not to mention more expensive than our budget allows – but everyone had a good time with all the baby/toddler cousins together and that is all the matters in the end.

Please use sunscreen when outside. Your body will thank you for it when you are older.
put pillows in the freezer about an hour before bedtime… settles the kids down fast on a hot night
I freeze grapes and eat them to cool off.
remember the sunscreen
Leave the pets at home, not in the car.
We are going to be visiting family in NH and PA, then taking vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC
My best tip is to always wear sunscreen while outdoors. (I’m constantly telling my husband and kids….”don’t forget your sunscreen”.)
Thanks so much.
We keep water in the car so we are never caught without a drink.
Use sunscreen and dont forget to reapply
No money for a vacation this year, but we will be having cookouts, maybe a chance to go to the lake later, but right now its cookout with the family an friends ,my tip is freeze water bottles an put them in with soda ,they will keep them cool an you have cold water when it melts saves having to buy ice
I follow you on twitter an tweeted;vickiecouturierhttp://bit.ly/zZouU
Stay hydrated, drink lot of water.
My tip is to always bring a thermos or sports bottle filled with ice water, every time you go somewhere in the summer, even if you’re just running errands. Little ones get really thirsty when it’s hot out, and it will save you time and money if you already have cold water to give them, and don’t have to buy a bottled water.
Best summer tip: Do your fitness walking and exercising in the early morning hours, before the heat and sun become overbearing.

My favorite summer tip? Don’t leave your dogs in a hot car!

We have a crab feast every summer and the whole family gets together on her back porch. We spread the tables with newspaper, place rolls of Scott paper towels everywhere and get to cracking. It is so much fun!!
Stay out of the heat of the day–if you have to be outside wear sunscreen, a hat and drink plenty of water.

My Summer Tip is to always make sure your kids have adult supervision when playing near or in any type water. (i.e., lake, beach, pool) because it only takes 2 seconds for a child to drown. Please be safe this summer.

Here’s a silly one. Since we don’t have a full-size pool, only a baby pool, watching my daughter stay cool in the heat can be sort of a tease. So I prop up a chair right next to her pool, stick an umbrella in the ground and keep my legs in her pool, lol. Not only do I stay cool, but I could keep an eye on her in the pool without having to put on a bathing suit *gasp*
Another tip – I always keep a bag of beach stuff in my car. A pail, a shovel, a towel, an extra outfit for my daughter, and a big ziploc bag for wet bathing suits.
My favorite summer tip is to make sure the kids get out of the house – and not sit in front of the computer or tv all day. There are so many options, even if money is tight – public swimming pools, the park, library, etc.
My favorite summer tip is to drink lots of water while relaxing outside and catching up on your lazy summer reading list.

MY favorite summer tip is to build up a sweat to cool down. It sounds counterintuitive, but it works. What I do is leave the A/C off (saves $$ too!), work my behind off all day (doing housework and taking care of the kids), and sweat profusely. Then, right before my hubby gets home, I close the windows, turn on the A/C, take a tepid shower, and sit down with a cool drink. Ahhhh…I accomplish a lot, but also give myself permission to sit and relax and be lazy at the end of the day—it’s great.

I love scott paper towels the only kind I buy because they work!

Thank you for a great contest! My summer tips for travel are to freeze bottled waters & juice boxes the night before a trip, so that as they thaw out in your cooler bag, you’ll have cold liquids to keep you hydrated!
I use tons of sunscreen for me and my kids, and I’ve been looking for the ones that have both UVA and UVB protection. A big hat is great for shading my face and freckle-y chest!
Do your exercie or gardening in the early morning or later in the evening.
Enjoy th flowers & garden vegetables.

Favorite Summer tip is if you live near the beach pack a picnic lunch and take the family for a day of fun. All it will cost you is the gas to get there and back.
We like to spend lots of time with our friends around the pool – so it is important to stay hydrated, drinking mostly water ( it is essential for life ), and of course keeping sunscreen on all day long.
Hope you all have a fabulous summer!!
Do yard work in the early morning or late evening.

My most important tip is Sunscreen and drinking lots of water!! Very important!
Drink lots of water. Play in the sprinkler, just have fun.
My favorite tip is to use sun protection even on a cloudy day because you will still burn even if you don’t feel like you are burning
Where we live, the best tip I can give is to use insect repellent because the skeeters are horrible.
Thanks, Toni
Always bring a sweater or jacket out no matter how hot the day is, especially for a long day at the beach. When the sun goes down, sometimes it’s hard to predict just how low the temps will drop.
Drink plenty of water and use sunscreen when you leave the house.
Thanks for the giveaway!
My summer Fun tip (for toddlers) – Buy a Bubble Machine! It’s the best $10-20 you will ever spend!!!
It’s important to hydrate yourself BEFORE you actually begin feeling thirsty if you’re going to be outside for a long period of time. By the time you actually feel thirsty you’re already dehydrated. And of course…wear sunscreen! Thanks.

I like to clean and wash strawberries and grapes. Then I cut the stem tops off of strawberries and alternate the fruit on a skewer. I then place the skewers in the freezer. Once they are frozen, they are a great treat for adults and kids alike.
My favorite summer tip is to cover mosquito bites with scotch tape! I started using this technique this year and it really works. Take the itch away. Just leave bite covered for a few hours.
My favorite summer tip is to freeze grapes for a delicious and refreshing snack when it is hot out! This is a great idea for the beach and on those hot summer nights! It is healthy and satisfying!

we live at the beach,,sunscreen is a must
Always keep lemonade and/or iced tea in the fridge.
My favorite summer tip is to ALWAYS ALWAYS slather on that sunblock BEFORE you leave the house! Don’t under estimate the damage the sun’s UVA and UVB rays can and WILL do to your skin!
If you are going to be out doors for a while. slather more on in a few hours.
We have to protect our Children’s tender skin too!

My favorite summer tip is to go on lots of long walks with my family!

Lots and lots of water and sunscreen. Thanks.
Stay hydrated, water water water-simple but very important.
A good summer tip – Use spray on sunblock! It is SO much easier to appy (and reapply! very important!) than the rub on stuff and ensures you’re not missing any spots/hard to reach places. Plus, it absorbs quicker and doesn’t feel greasy!

BBQ as much as possible
Always have water or cool drinks around to keep evreyone hydrated.
Don’t forget your pets! Keep the water bowls fresh, and, if possible, elevate feed dishes so ants or other critters don’t crawl into your cats’ or dog’s meal.
Lots of water. It cools and rehydrates.
Summer is short here in Utah, so worry less and get out and enjoy more!
We have a gathering with family each holiday through the summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day. We play volleyball, baseball…or whatever comes up. I usually make slow cooker sloppy joes and shaved ham that stays in the slow cooker all day on low and potato salad, shrimp salad and jello that is in a cooler on ice so people can eat throughout the day as they please.

In the summe I keep frozen fruit in the freezer at all times. We use it as edible ice cubes in lemonade and tea, as great pick me up fruit snacks, in smoothies and slushie drinks, and occasionally in ziplock baggies as ice packs for kids who get boo boos. When the kids crave candy, I give them a handful of frozen cherries, strawberries or blueberries and that does the trick.

Keep a spray bottle of cool water nearby and occasionally spritz it on your skin! It feels delightful!
I work outside in the morning when it isn’t so hot.

Take a cue from the Spanish and siesta during the heat of the day! Obviously if you’ve got a 9-5 this doesn’t work, but if you’ve got a flexible schedule, drop the Protestant work ethic from June-August- most things can be done just as well at four PM as at noon. Stay inside and (if you can) catch some zzzzs from 11-2, when the UV and heat indexes are through the roof.
eeohlin at gmail dot com
I like to slather the kids with sunscreen and hand them a hose for an hour or so of fun that tires them out, so that I can relax later.
My tip is to keep sunscreen in your purse and in your car so you have it whenever you need to reapply. Bug spray is a good thing to keep handy too
Unhappy with your favorite summer drink tasting watery or cooling down too fast? Make some Kool-Aid, pour into ice cube tray, freeze, and use the flavored ice cubes in you favorite flavored drink! Enjoy!
I take advantage of all the free summer offerings in NYC! My tip is to look for the same in your area!
If you leave plastic bottles in your car with your beverage of choice in them (even water) do not drink them. Sitting in the hot sun creates bad for you yukkies that you’ll end up drinking. Opt for stainless steel instead.
summer tip: use this time of the year to connect or reconnect with children and young adults who are in school the remainder of the year. Keep things slow and relaxed on these hot days…videos, table games, and just talk/sharing time.
My favorite summer thing to do is to go swimming me and my family and to make cool pops and lemonade.
My summer tip is to pick a new place to explore each week and pack a picnic. Tell the kids you are going to have a picnic each week, and let them pick some of the spots. When you are out driving, tell the kids to watch for great spots to have a picnic.
My favorite green tip: Don’t throw away fruit and vegetable peels, tea or coffee grounds, but use them to make compost for your yard and garden. Don’t waste – reuse, recycle!!
Stock up an on-the-go first aid kit in a small tackle box or other easy to carry box. Handy to have at home and on a trip.
Minimize UV exposure by going inside during the peak sun hours in the early afternoon.
stay hydrated & use sunblock spf45
I like to freeze fruit juice in ice cube trays and add them to water to encourage my family to drink more water.
My summer tip is to take it easy! Don’t worry if the house isn’t perfect or the kids’ clothes are wrinkled. Enjoy summer while it lasts.
My summer tip (which I use a lot) is to stay in the air-conditioning as much as possible.
Key West
My favorite tip is to enjoy the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables available in summer. What can be more delicious that fresh corn on the cob? Or juicy peaches warm from the sun?
Thanks for the contest. Happy Fourth of July!
My tip for summer is to spend time with family and enjoy the outdoors with each other.
Take it slow; savor. Everyone wants to do so much that we burn out too quickly and have to take a few days to rest.
Here’s a neat tip I like :
When making up ice water bottles for everyone before a long drive, add a few drops of lemon juice, and the water will stay fresh tasting, not like plastic. Don’t use sugar, though, as it promotes bacterial growth.

Take advantage of the nice weather and play outside with your kids. Here in MN we only have a few months of the year that we can be outside comfortably, teach your kids they don’t need to always be inside watching TV or playing video games. Set an example that being outdoors is a lot more fun.
Get outside as much as possible – think of going outside to read, eat , etc..
I find that properly applying the sunscreen is the best tip. You have to wait 30-45 minutes before going into the sun for it to really work

If you are going to be leaving the house for a short period of time during a hot day, don’t turn off the air-conditioner(s). It will actually use more energy cooling down the house again than it would have had you kept them running.

I enjoy being outside when the weather is nice. i especially like taking my dog for a walk in the evening and we usually are lucky enough to spot a couple of owls who make their home on our street.
After a day in the sun I like to apply aloe gel or cocobutter lotion to my skin. Also, I make homemade smoothies to drink.

Enjoy the summer it will be over before you know it!
My summer tip would be to drink lots of water and keep yourself well hydrated. This will keep your energy up and reduce weight gain. Also get lots of excercise but be sensible and do it in the cool of the day; either early or late in the evening after sun goes down. Go walking to the park or your favorite sports activity to name a few.

I worked at Disney World many years ago, and I got off work at the hottest point in the day, about 2:30 in the afternoon. After being outside all day, I felt hot, sweaty and disgusting. When I got home, I’d take a warm shower to clean off, but then I’d turn the hot water off and rinse in cold water. It was very refreshing and something I use to this day to get cool on a hot day.
My other tip, if you live near the Atlantic or Gulf Coast, stock up on a few canned goods and batteries now, just in case a hurricane comes.

Keep your car in a covered sport when possible. That way it is not so miserable to get in the car in the middle of the day, and you save gas on some air conditioning.
I take a lot of road trips in the summer and worry about staying fit while away from home, but I found a great set of tips on the Scott’s site: Adapt your desk exercises for the car; at rest stops, take a short jog or do calisthenics; and stop at a state park for a short hike. I’ll definitely be implementing these helpful suggestions when I go on vacation with my family in a couple weeks. Thanks for the giveaway!

My tip is to stay well hydrated if you are going to be outside for awhile. Always have water available and don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink it.
My best tip is to remember that your kids are only kids once, get them out, to the beach, park or the zoo, just sit out on the porch or in the yard together, count stars, explore tide pools, enjoy an ice cream with your little ones.. the dirty laundry and the dust bunnies will be there when you return.
Have a healthy, happy, wonderous summer and thank you for this give away.
We love to entertain in the summer and have lots of barbeques. Very often the kids feel left out as the parents (us) sit and tend to the grill, make drinks and just get caught up in grown up conversations. Two very inexpensive ways to keep the kids entertained are buying lots of chalk because the little girls love to play hop scotch using the sidewalk in our backyard that leads down to the lake and the little boys love playing horseshoes. These are 2 quick, easy, no set up involved ways to keep your kids having fun, staying active, and in sight of where you can see them and still have some adult fun too! Thank you so much for the chance to enter.
