*Update*
Choosing Winner…
It seems like every day (well, maybe not EVERY day!) a new company is introducing a new DVD designed to engage your baby, make your baby smarter, encourage your baby to read or sign, and on and on! As a parent I have to admit I feel overwhelmed at times especially when I read this by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Admittedly I was curious and excited when I received The Scholastic Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics. This is a sixteen-DVD set of all-time favorite classic children’s stories brought to life onscreen, featuring celebrity narrations by Sarah Jessica Parker and James Earl Jones. I like the potential to integrate stories I am already reading to my son. And we all know how beneficial reading is for babies. Let’s face it…many babies and children are captivated by television. Why not show videos that can promote and enhance learning. We really like Curious George Rides a Bike, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Corduroy!
Get it Now!
The Scholastic Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics sixteen-DVD set retails for $99.95 and can be purchased online at the following stores:

Oh, my. Number one, huh? We love the Miss Nelson books ’round here. A book we are currently reading over and over is Olivia by Ian Faloner. Great giveaway!
I loved Strega Nona. I would draw her every day!!
ooooh! I’m the first. My favorite in the collection is Corduroy but my very favorite book to read to my kids is: Roger’s Upside Down Day. Please randomly pick me!!
Corduroy brings back such fond memories….Harry the Dirty Dog is one of my daughter’s latest favorites.
I’d have to say “Corduroy” is my favorite. I love to read that book to my children, as well as other classics such as “Harold and the Purple Crayon” (which I notice they also have) and all of the Curious George stories. GREAT giveaway! We’d be tickled pink to win. ( [email protected] )
I absolutely LOVE Harold and the Purple Crayon! I think the girls love it as much as I do… 🙂
My favorite from Scholastic is “Ralph S. Mouse” (such a fun story)and my other personal favorite is “If you give a mouse a cookie.”
Great memories from both of those books!
Hi! I’m a children’s librarian and I feel qualified to say that this is a great collection. My personal favorite is Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. I’d love to win this for my little boy-some TV time I can actually see allowing him!
My daughter and I LOVE the Chicka Chicka one! It’s so catchy! I also read nursery rhymes to her such as ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle’. We have a cute picture book with those rhymes in them and she enjoys that.
My favorite from this set is Where the Wild Things Are. We have read that book to my daughter since birth. My all time favorite book to read to her is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. We have been reading all of his collections to her since I was pregnant with her. My husband would read a handful of poems to her while she was in my tummy and she would wiggle and move around to the sound of his voice. To this day those are still the first books she picks from her shelf to read with us.
We love the story of Chrysanthemum at our house. Not only does it have a great message, it helps my daughter practice her letter blends by saying the name Chrysanthemum.
We also love to read the “Don’t let the Pigeon…” series of books by Mo Willems. They are creative and have a little spunk. They have opened up conversations about whining and how it doesn’t get you much.
So hard to choose. I love Chrysanthemum, but my son is really into Click, Clack, Moo. I also love the game that goes along wtih Scrambled States of America. Another book we are reading often these days is Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton-Ben thinks the pigs are hilarious!
Harry the Dirty Dog would be a good one. I remember watching a lot of these as filmstrips when I was little! Roo would get a kick out of seeing her favorite books on TV. She loves Corduroy and the “How Do Dinosaurs…” series.
Thanks for the chance to win, this is a very cool prize!

BTW, I just read a great new book about kids & TV/video called Into the Minds of Babes. It gives great info re: what kids “get” at different ages, and what they benefit from. It made me mellow out on my anti-TV stance.
I’ve always liked the Emperor’s New Clothes. I read a book called “Julius, Baby of the World” to my daughter that we think is hilarious.
We just read diary of a worm the other day and my niece loved it. She likes worms. A lot!
We also read Where the Wild Things Are. She calls that one the monster story.
