{Consideration provided by Walt Disney Studios}
When Disney acquired Lucasfilm, I, like many Star Wars enthusiasts, wondered what future films would look like. I personally hoped that the studio would preserve the elements that grew my appreciate for these films. The droids…the futuristic space vehicles…the force…the galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was set 30 years after Return of the Jedi and exceeded audience’s expectations with respect to story, character development, cinematography and authenticity.
Known for their imaginative storytelling, I excitedly anticipated the debut of the Star Wars Anthology Series by Disney-Lucasfilm, a group of stand-alone films set in the Star Wars Universe featuring brand new stories and characters. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was the first in the series and follows the story of a group of rebels on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. This pivotal event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who do extraordinary things to become part of something greater than themselves. While the tone and style varies from the original Star Wars films, the semblance is unmistakable and still authentically holds its own in the universe. You can read my entire review here.
