I’ve lived in Southern California my entire life and yet it still perplexes me to see the thermometer in my car read over 90 in October. We see the sun most days, thanks to our desert-like weather conditions so skin protection is vital. Did you know that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer with over 1 million diagnosed cases every year in the United States? What is so tragic about these statistics is that it is easily preventable.
Wearing sunscreen on a hot summer day at the beach or the pool is a no-brainer right? But what about now when the leaves are changing, the weather is cooling and you’re spending less time basking in the warm summer sun? You may not know this but according to The Skin Cancer Foundation, everyone should wear sunscreen every day. It is the cumulative day-to-day exposure that increases your risk for skin cancer. Indirect sun exposure puts you at risk so it’s important to make sunscreen application a daily part of your skin care routine.
Earlier this year, Bethesda Skincare introduced the first all-natural Sunscreen Soap. The Sunscreen Soap provides a minimum SPF of 10 and contains over fifty vitamins and minerals to support the overall health of your skin. It’s all-natural and hypoallergenic which is wonderful for us sensitive types. The soap contains four powerful ingredients: whole leaf Aloe-Vera gel, healing balm of Gilead, glycerin, and chlorophyll which have anti-inflammatory, hygroscopic (moisture-retaining), immune boosting, and moisturizing properties.
When I first used it, I immediately noticed the pleasant smell (who doesn’t like to smell nice? : ) More importantly, I love the way my skin feels after using it. It’s super easy to use…just wash with it and you’re afforded with an invisible layer of protection. I fully expected my skin to feel greasy or to feel some sort of residue, but I didn’t. My skin just feels soft and hydrated. In all honesty, daily application of sunscreen has never been part of my skin care routine. I’m doing good if I apply my facial makeup with a built-in sunscreen. Most people don’t remember to apply sunscreen everyday…but hopefully you do remember to bathe. Bathe with Bethesda and you’ve got your skin care basics covered! Purchase it online for $8.00.
If you or someone you know is suffering from cancer, send an email to the company with the name, address, and recipients condition to receive a free bar of Sunscreen Soap. Bethesda is offering this promotion in honor of Melanie, Jamie’s sister who is fighting stage 4 colon and liver cancer. Be sure to reference The Melanie Policy in your email.
