My son will. not. take. off. his. Polliwalks.  These adorable, animal-shaped shoes are as cute as they are fun!  I am so bummed that I don’t have a picture of my son wearing them.  My camera stopped working while we were away and I never had an opportunity to take a picture of him!  Once I get it working I’ll be sure to show you how much fun he’s been having with his Polliwalks!

Who knew that a shoe could actually be a toy?  When we opened the box and my son saw the flashing tail on his Firefly shoes, he exclaimed “Oh Wow!”  (That’s his latest phrase for something he is very excited about).  He then proceeded to march all around the house saying “Oh Wow!”  He just loves them!  When he isn’t wearing them, he’s playing with them.  He particularly loves getting the tail on the Firefly shoes to light up.

Polliwalks was born out of a former toy designer’s idea that children’s shoes should be fun and offer toy-like features to make wearing shoes a playful experience.  You’ve probably heard of children who do not like wearing shoes (fortunately my son is not in that group of children).  Polliwalks are playful clogs that feature bright, vibrant colors and fun, familiar animals.  The soles feature the footprint of the animal they represent (I love that!).  The shoes are really well-made and very durable, which is important when you’re developing a product for children.  I can only imagine how many of these my son is going to want to collect play with wear!  My son has been walking for awhile now and while I feel he is pretty stable, I still seek out shoes that provide adequate support and stability.  The soles are actually very supportive and not thin like most adult clogs.  I know they’re comfortable because if they weren’t my son would take them off.  Polliwalks are constructed of soft foam and have a built-in arch support and a deep heel cup for ultimate comfort, support, and stability.  The instep is fitted to the foot without being too loose which prevents twisting of the foot inside the shoe.  They’re also really easy to put on although my son hasn’t quite mastered that yet.

The current line features six different animals and two styles.  We received a pair of Furry Puppy clogs which feature a soft textile lining to keep feet nice and toasty.  I am really glad we received these because my son can wear them in the winter.  Spring is still many months away but we had the privilege of checking out the brand new 2009 Firefly style.  The tail lights up with a heel strike the little antennaes on the front of the shoe just add that finishing touch!  You can purchase the Firefly and Fish Lips style at Dillards or on Zappos.com right now!  Polliwalks retail for $35.00.
