Who would have thought that having a child would be so disruptive to one’s sleep? Even after four and a half years, I’m still struggling through nights of interrupted sleep. Fortunately, those interruptions are temporary!

Sleep is truly a complex physiologic process, influenced by a number of different factors. Some, like children who wake up at 2 am, aren’t easily fixed. Others, like a mattress that is too hard or too soft, are more readily corrected.

We received a two-inch Gel Memory Foam Topper that is actually more comfortable than I expected it to be. You have to wait a few days after unpacking the mattress topper to fully realize it’s plushness. One of the things I specifically appreciate about gel memory foam is it’s enhanced breathability (so many people I know get too warm at night which can also interrupt sleep).

Two of my concerns regarding the use of a mattress topper was ease of cleaning and whether or not it would slip. Fortunately, the topper comes with a cotton cover that’s easily removed for cleaning and a stretch to fit skirt to secure the topper in place, preventing slippage. I like the two-inch option because it’s thick enough to realize a noticeable difference without being too thick, plush, soft or hard.
