I met her on an LA-bound plane coming from Nashville 2 months ago. It was a fleeting encounter…one that should have never occurred except for the pink and beige Land’s End tote that screamed BlissDom. That little bag symbolized a bond we shared…we were both bloggers…mommy bloggers at that. But more than that we were moms. She spoke of her daughter Maddie, I showed off my son… It was a whirlwind of a trip and I was ready to get home. Flying + toddler – nap = Chaos. We spoke about…blogging…motherhood…life… We exchanged business cards and vowed to keep in touch. And then that moment was over.
Do you know what I remember from that encounter (apart from the most unique blog name I’ve yet to hear)? Maddie…not blogging or BlissDom…just Maddie.
I happened to be perusing 5 Minutes for Mom when I learned of Maddie’s unexpected death 2 days ago. I wept that night. No parent should ever have to experience the death of a child. It’s unnatural. My heart aches for Heather and her husband. Life is short…so short…cherish each moment…each smile…each tear…and embrace life for what it is. Only today…only this moment…is guaranteed.
Please keep Heather and her family in your prayers.
