Technology is always competing for my kids’ attention, which means I have to be proactive about providing plenty of creative options for my kids to be active outdoors. They still talk about their “best” gift from Santa last year…brand new bikes which they have used extensively over the past year! Now that my son is a bit older and refining his gross and fine motor skills, I thought a scooter would be the perfect outdoor “vehicle” to inspire more time outdoors in the coming year.
We’ve actually had some experience testing out Razor’s Scooters and for many parents, it is the brand of choice for ride-on toys. Based in Southern California, Razor commits to providing a riding experience that is unmatched attributed to its use of cutting-edge technology, quality materials, and innovation. The company was founded in 2000 and launched with its acclaimed A model kick scooter which is part of Walmart’s Chosen By Kids Top 20 Toys List.
At just $27.72, this is an awesome scooter, particularly for first-time riders like my son. Designed for children ages 5 and older, the Razor A Kick Scooter is durable, lightweight (just 6 pounds!) and easy for kids to begin riding immediately. As a parent, I appreciate that no assembly is required. It simply unfolds out of the box and is ready for use (be sure to adjust the handle bars depending on the height of your child). Kids use their feet to scoot and the rear fended brake to stop. It took both of my kids a bit of time to adjust to balancing on the scooter but once they acclimated to the scooter, they could really pick up speed with it.
Since the scooter has an expansive weight range (up to 143 pounds), it can be used by kids, tweens and even teens for years, making it a really good investment. Characteristic of Razor’s products, this scooter is made from aircraft-grade aluminum so you can be assured that it will last. Since the scooter folds, it can be stored compactly practically anywhere and even brought along for road trips. While perhaps deemed one of the more entry-level scooters (Razor also offers a line of electric scooters), the A is really all a child needs to get started scooting around the neighborhood. And I really appreciate that it helps both of my children continue refining their fine and gross motor skills and gets them outdoors.
The Razor A Kick Scooter is available in 5 different colors for boys and girls and retails for $27.72. Since ride-ons are hugely popular among kids this season, you can visit Walmart.com or your local store for their entire selection of bikes and ride-on toys. Additionally, I highly recommend including helmet with any ride-on toy to promote safety from the very first ride. Razor offers a child helmet (in pink and blue) for just $19.97 at Walmart which is perfect for children ages 5-8.
Remember, you still have a couple of days left to place items (including ride-on toys!) on layaway at your local Walmart (through December 15th). Keep inputting those Holiday shopping receipts into Savings Catcher to “catch” any savings you may have missed. And if you are a comparative shopper, you can feel confident that Walmart’s Ad Match Guarantee will ensure you always receive the lowest price on your holiday purchases.
