Promote Urinary Health With AZO *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 64 Comments

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is CherylS22.  Congrats!

As a mom, it’s easy to talk about potty training and discipline.  As a woman, it’s not so easy to talk about burning and itching.  Did you know that 75% of women will experience at least one yeast infection in their lives (and from experience, they’re not. fun.) and half of all women will have more than one?  Or that urinary tract infections are the most common medical complaint in woman over the age of 18 after the flu and common cold?  Or that 60% of women will experience a UTI at least once and 20% will have another (again…not. fun.)?

If you’re a woman who has experienced any of the above symptoms, you’re not alone.  While uncomfortable and embarrassing, over-the-counter relief is available through a company called AZO.  I really wish I would have known about AZO’s products several years ago when I found myself at an Urgent Care on a weekend with a UTI. AZO offers a comprehensive line of products designed to provide protection and relief from itching, burning, and other symptoms.  I haven’t had an opportunity to use the products sent by the company (and I’m thankful that I haven’t had to use them!) but I had a friend over the house this past weekend who was experiencing intense symptoms of a UTI.  I gave her a test strip and she tested positive.  We both agreed that it’s wonderful to have results immediately without having to go to an Urgent Care or Emergency Room over the weekend.

AZO’s complete line of products include a standard and maximum strength formulation for urinary symptoms, cranberry tablets to promote urinary tract health, test strips, yeast tablets, and a topical itch-relief cream.  I’ve got them tucked safely away in my cabinet for those unforeseen times. You can find AZO brand products online and at food and drug stores nationwide.

Here are some tips on preventing UTI’s, courtesy of AZO:

  • Drink lots of water.
  • Drink 8-16 ounces of cranberry juice daily to keep bacteria from growing and clinging to your bladder wall. Or take AZO CRANBERRY® tablets to get benefits of cranberry juice in a convenient tablet.
  • Wipe from front to back when you go to the bathroom.
  • If you are sexually active, go to the bathroom right after you have sex.
  • Go to the bathroom as soon as you feel the need, rather than when the urge becomes strong.
  • Use tampons instead of sanitary pads and change them every three to four hours.
  • Wear clean cotton underwear that will allow air circulation and discourage the warm, moist environment necessary for bacteria growth.
  • Don’t hang around in a wet bathing suit or on a damp towel. Get into dry stuff as soon as you can.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothes like ultra skin-tight jeans.

Win It! One of you will win an AZO Emergency Kit which will include the complete line of AZO products in a Vera Bradley Cosmetic Bag. Simply leave me a comment with one fact you learned on their website. Comments will close on November 3rd, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated.
