The very first time mi hija “met” Tinker Bell was in Secret of the Wings, which depicted the beautiful story of love and sisterhood between Tinker Bell and her sister Periwinkle. Along with her beauty, she’s drawn to the “warm” fairy’s adventurous spirit and loyalty. Tink and her amigas’ next adventure continues in Pirate Fairy on Blu-ray™ and Digital now.
In Pirate Fairy, boys and girls are introduced to Zarina, a dust-keeper Fairy who’s mesmerized by the magic of the Blue Pixie Dust and it’s endless possibilities. Unable to reign her curiosity, Zarina’s actions wreak havoc in Pixie Hollow and she is prohibited from working as a dust-keeper. Feeling hurt and alone, she joins forces with the pirates of Skull Rock, who name her captain of their ship. With pirated Blue Pixie Dust and a force not to be reckoned with, it seems there is no stopping Hook and his gang from plundering anything, including Pixie Hollow. It will take Tinker Bell and her friends’ combined talents, friendship, and teamwork to stop Hook and his pirate gang all the while helping Zarina realize who she is and where she belongs.
Mi hijo would never admit it, but he sat with his little hermana and watched Pirate Fairy that first night we received the film. The two of them are more than just brother and sister…they are friends. It’s in the little things like helping around the house, thinking about what the other would like when it comes to toys or other activities, and even when they sleep that their “compañerismo” is unmistakable.
After we watched the film, mi hija and I spent time talking about the film using the Pirate Fairy Printables we received from Disney. You can download coloring sheets and activity sheets inspired by the film below.
One of the things I personally loved about the film was how it really united Disney Fairies with the origin of these stories, Disney’s Peter Pan.
In fact, if you take a look at The Pirate Fairy and Peter Pan Infographic you’ll see how these stories are creatively and intricately woven together.
In many ways, the fairies of Pixie Hollow are a family, which is often how our culture embraces those who are close to us. My father had a childhood friend who he called his “amigo” his entire life. Similarly, while I didn’t have a sister growing up, I have a childhood friend that was as close as an hermana. We live quite some distance from each other, but when we talk or meet in person, it’s as if no time has passed. Filled with adventure, humor, and heart, Pirate Fairy is a delightful, imaginative film that will engage familias with its endearing messages of friendship, teamwork, and second chances.
Pirate Fairy is now available on Blu-ray and Digital.
