Norah Jones’ The Fall, Lego Pirates, and More! *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 343 Comments

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Dddiva.  Congrats!
I have a new CD in my car.  It’s not The Wiggles or Curious George.  It’s a CD for me.  Surprise surprise!  One of my FAVORITE artists is Norah Jones.  And I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to review her latest CD, entitled The Fall.  Norah and I go way back (well, sort of).  When I was younger (and thinner and prettier), people used to say I look like her.  I don’t get that anymore.  I can’t imagine why.  But I digressed.
norahjonesthefall
Norah’s new CD is just incredible.  If you know her and her music, then you know she’s got this jazzy, bluesy sort of approach to her music.  Her voice is just lovely and she cites Billie Holiday and Willie Nelson as early influences on her and her music (via Amazon.com).  Along with several upbeat, pop-like tracks, Norah collaborated with new songwriters and musicians to give this new album a bit of edge.  But if you’re like me, and appreciate her beautiful ballads, there is no shortage on this album.  Her music is about life and love…it’s authentic and sung from her soul.  My favorite songs include Waiting and You’ve Ruined Me.
You can watch her latest music video, Chasing Pirates, on her Hulu Channel:

Norah Jones will be on tour this spring (beginning in March).  Check out her site for a list of tour dates.  You can also keep up with her on Facebook.  Her CD The Fall retails for $15.00 and can be purchased directly from her site.
contestheaderprizes
To celebrate Norah Jones’ latest release, The Fall, Blue Note Records has teamed up with Norah to give away an autographed children’s band set featuring a LX1 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar, a Ludwig 5-piece Junior Drum Set with Cymbals, a Schoenhut49 Key Pro Baby Grand Piano and a copy of the new album to one lucky winner.  You can enter on the site through January 31, 2010.
6243 LEGO Brickbeard's Bounty
Chasing Pirates is the signature song from The Fall, and in keeping with the “pirate” theme, I have an awesome way to celebrate the release right here! We’ve teamed up with Lego to offer one of you the chance to win one of their pirate-themed Lego Sets.  Here is a little more information from the site:

Ahoy mateys! A LEGO(R) theme classic comes ashore again, creating an all-new hunt for buried treasure adventure for kids and kids at heart! Find out more about all of the LEGO Pirate sets at http://pirates.lego.com

legoWin It! One of you will win Brickbeard’s Bounty (RV $99.99).  Simply leave me a two-part comment with the name of the song you like from Norah’s new CD and another Lego set you like on their Pirate site.  Comments will close on January 16, 2010 at 10 PM PST. One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. My husband had the lego pirate ship when he was a kid and still has some of the pieces so I would LOVE to win this and give it to him and our three boys who are obsessed with legos! They would love the Loot Island too. The pirate sets are the ones we do not have any of yet!

I have not heard Nora’s new CD yet so I do not have a favorite song, but I listened to “Even Though” on her website and I enjoyed it very much. This sounds like a great CD. Another LEGO set we like from the Pirates site is Loot Island. Thank you for the chance to win.

I love the song, Waiting, on Norah’s new CD. I would have to pick the Lego Imperial Flagship if I were to win the Brickbeard’s Bounty. It comes complete with a pirates’ captain prisoner. 🙂 What better way to have a battle at sea? Of course, there is the Captain’s Daughter too.. so there could be a rescue of the damsel in distress. I love these sets. They give so much for kids to work their imaginations with.
