The new year is a time when I think about some of the things I’d like to change in my life. If you can believe it, I have not purchased many articles of clothing for myself since my first pregnancy. I told myself that I wanted to wait until I had shed the baby weight and celebrate with a few new outfits. Combine that with the fact that I work from home part-time, and work in a hospital part-time, and the result is a pretty casual and somewhat dated wardrobe. I don’t have a great need for “professional attire,” however, it’s nice to have a few outfits on hand for meetings and business trips.
Last year I was introduced to Ming Wang, a company offering “timeless,” affordable knitwear for the “on-the-go” woman. They’ve launched a bold new spring collection for 2011 which is reminiscent of their previous lines. While I’m not someone who typically wears such vibrant colors, I really like their basics and solids. I have a pair of black knit pants, a pleated black skirt, and an adorable ruffled black jacket that I wear for meetings, and evenings out. While you might think that knitwear would be warm, it’s very breathable (I wore the skirt and jacket during BlogHer last summer in New York City). What I like most about Ming Wang is how well-made their clothing is. Just by touching the fabrics, I know the quality of the brand.
Through February 7th, Ming Wang is hosting a Mother of the Bride or Groom Makeover contest where one deserving mom will win a bridal season wardrobe and a day of beauty. To enter, visit their Facebook page.
Ming Wang knitwear is available online and at select retailers nationwide including Nordstrom, Von Maur, and Dillard’s.
