Mattel’s Talking Sofia the First Doll Set Teaches Children What It Means to Be a Princess *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 71 Comments

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Kristy S. Congrats!

As a Mattel Disney Insider, I receive products/information for review/giveaway.

Earlier this week, I found my daughter practicing her princess twirling and I realized just how quickly she is growing up.  She’s traded her ride-on toys and stuffed animals for dress-ups, play-sets and dolls. She’s completely enchanted by all-things Disney and loves pretending she is Sofia the First, from Disney Junior’s hit show about an adventurous little girl adjusting to life as royalty.  The show really resonates with us because it teaches my daughter the value of inner beauty.  Honesty, loyalty, courage, independence, compassion, and grace are the characteristics that Sofia and her friends model, which is what makes her shine inside and out. Sofia is adorable and relatable because she isn’t “perfect.”

 Sofia the First Talking Doll

Pretend play is just one of the ways children learn about their world, and dolls are an engaging way to facilitate this. My daughter squealed with delight when Mattel’s new Sofia the First doll arrived.  The doll includes 3 of her best animal friends who communicate with her, just like they do in the show.  Sofia wears her signature amulet which glows and recognizes and talks to Clover the Rabbit, Robin the Robin, and Mia the Bluebird.  Each of the 30 phrases are unique the specific animal and my daughter was so impressed with the fact that Sofia spoke to each of them.

Sofia the First Talking Doll

The doll is a gorgeous rendition of the little girl princess and the perfect size for little girls like my daughter.  Sofia is dressed in her signature princess gown and is wearing removable shoes, a tiara and her glowing amulet.  The set, which includes her 3 animal friends, is available for $39.99.

Sofia the First Talking Doll

My daughter and I have referenced the show to talk about what it means to be kind, generous, and honest and now that we have the doll, we can continue Sofia’s adventures.  This month, a brand new DVD with 5 episodes from the hit show will be released, allowing children the opportunity to enjoy Sofia’s adventures again and again.  Sofia the First: Ready to Be a Princess will follow the little girl princess as she visits an enchanted circus, meets a pet dragon, and soars through the desert skies with Amber on a magic carpet ride.  Sofia the First airs on Friday mornings at 9:30 am/8:30 am CST on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.
